In the depths of his nearly black deep green eyes reside one of the three war goddesses in the form of a raven, "Morrígan," and a snake-like spirit sent by the former Blue Knight Earl to seal her, serving the royal family of Hadia. Born in the small kingdom of Hadia in Ceylon before it was colonized, he was born with the spirit of a monster serving the king, possessing extremely high combat abilities from a young age. Sold to the Prince along with his sister Armin and trained as a killing weapon, he was controlled by the rampaging spirit without a king to serve, killing indiscriminately. Concerned for him, Armin introduced him to Edgar as a master to serve. Edgar became his master along with the spirit and gave him the name "Raven," implying that from now on, Raven himself should control the goddess and spirit. Since then, Raven has sworn absolute loyalty to Edgar (Edgar, known as "Sir John," was rumored to be a mass murderer because he had Raven with him). He is extremely poor at expressing emotions, always silent and expressionless. Pure and honest by nature, he struggles with human considerations like being considerate, so he often speaks his mind directly when asked, but without malice. However, he gradually opened his heart to Lydia, coming to trust her as an individual. Because of this, while he usually shows absolute obedience to Edgar, he sometimes voices his opinions or silently resists when it concerns Lydia. Though his expression doesn't show it, he was genuinely happy about Edgar and Lydia's marriage, saying on their wedding day, "This is the happiest day I've ever had." He is currently studying to be a butler under Tompkins. While in America, his behavior of ignoring everyone except his master Edgar caused distrust among his peers, preventing him from forming friendships. However, he has a peculiar friendship with Nico, who is frivolous and unfeeling but straightforward. He also cared deeply for his sister, who became a Selkie, preparing a silver knife for her since she could no longer touch steel. In the anime, during combat, his left eye imbued with the monster's power glows, and his movements leave a momentary trail.
