One of the main protagonists. A high school girl living in the rural town of Itomori, Gifu Prefecture. In the summer of 2013, she is 17 years old and in class 2-3 of Itomori High School. In reality, she is three years older than Taki. Regarding her birthday, Shinkai stated, "In my mind, both of them were born on December 1st." She ties her black hair with a burgundy cord but uses it as a headband towards the end. Her favorite animal is the hedgehog. Despite being rough around the edges, she possesses girlish skills like sewing. Along with her sister Yotsuha, she serves as a shrine maiden at the Miyamizu Shrine. Her mother Futaba has already died of illness, and her father Toshiki, who is the town mayor, has left the home. She lives with her grandmother, Hitoha, and her elementary school sister, Yotsuha. She harbors complex feelings towards her father, who left after a conflict with her grandmother. She is fed up with the family’s shrine, her father's election campaigns, and rural life, yearning for the glamorous lifestyle of Tokyo. In the epilogue, she is living in Tokyo. Driven by her sense of gender pride, she prohibits Taki Tachibana from touching or bathing in her body during their swaps.
