The butler of the Ashikaga family. He has served Takauji since he was a child and is so trusted by him that he is regarded as the "perfect butler." He handles everything from combat and internal affairs to taking care of Takauji's personal needs. He is also skilled in cooking, particularly in making udon. He has a fondness for married women. He has a thoroughly cold and rational personality, showing no expression and being merciless even to members of the Ashikaga family if he deems them incompetent. After the fall of the shogunate, he harbors ambitions for the prosperity of the Ashikaga and gradually becomes more arrogant, eventually disregarding the Kantō Takauji faction.
