A notorious thief who made a name for himself in Kikyōgahara of Shinano. Skilled in deception and sabotage, he was recommended by Yorishige to join Tokiyuki's group due to his abilities. He always wears a fox mask made from special clay, and has the skill to change his appearance completely by molding the mask. A miser and a philanderer. Originally from the Kazama clan, a branch of the Suwa family, his father was disgraced and accused of theft, despite his loyalty to his lord, leading to their downfall. Genba inherited his father's skills and name, along with the creed "Trust nothing but money." Initially, he distrusted Tokiyuki and mentally challenged him, but moved by Tokiyuki's sincerity and feeling guilty for causing an injury to Tokiyuki while defending him, he agreed to a contract with the fugitive group, with the condition of receiving a country as a reward for his service.
