克鲁顿教授 フレデリック・カールトン
Gender:Male
Lydia's father. He holds a professorship at the University of London. As an authority in natural history, he is invited to conferences from various fields. Although he himself comes from a middle-class family, he has connections with the upper class. His interests are focused on minerals, and he is indifferent to other matters. Lydia says, "When he's engrossed in his research, he wouldn't notice even if spears were falling from the sky," but Edgar describes him as "a person with a sharp eye typical of a scholar, who can discern the essence of things with a fair mindset," and at the same time, "a lovable person who, like Lydia, tries to think as favorably as possible after seeing through everything." Edgar, who usually stands superior to others, respects him as a rare individual. Edgar is inwardly proud to become family with him through his marriage to Lydia. He deeply loves his late wife and Lydia. He trusts Lydia and raised her freely without binding her. Initially, he was wary of Edgar due to the latter's glamorous relationships with women, as reported by gossip papers, fearing that his precious daughter might fall victim. However, respecting Lydia's feelings and knowing most of Edgar's past and the existence of organizations targeting him, he came to trust Edgar and approved of their marriage. He was called to the Highlands by Patrick, who was puzzled by ancient documents left in the village chief's house of an abandoned village. These documents led him to conclude that a gemstone, considered to be the scales of a dragon that became the land of the Highlands, should exist somewhere on the island, as a counterpart to the Bloodstone, a magical mass of Phil Chilis. He hypothesized that the scales might be a type of chalcedony commonly found on the island and headed to London to hear Lydia's opinion. However, the train he was on derailed just after entering London, and he was rescued by Edgar, who was searching for him to ease Lydia's growing anxiety. At that time, he was informed of his daughter's pregnancy.
