A third-generation ability user who can create plasma by superheating flames emitted from his own body, fighting with a flame sword called "Excalibur" that bursts from a hilt without a blade. Therefore, he has learned swordsmanship. He also uses disposable "Mini Excaliburs" made of plastic sheets for minor cutting and welding. His combat effectiveness varies depending on which hand he uses to wield the sword and his personal condition or mood, such as instantly defeating an opponent when switching the sword back to his dominant hand, or increasing the output of Excalibur just by dressing like a knight. After his Excalibur was destroyed in a battle with a dragon, leading to his defeat and a temporary loss of will to fight, Vulcan promised to create a real Excalibur, prompting his return to the front lines. He fought the dragon again but was forced to retreat due to a major disaster. In subsequent battles in the game, he defeated the dragon while losing his lower body to the dragon's technique. Believed to have met a heroic end after acknowledging Shinra as the savior and entrusting the future to him, he survived, wandering in space. He later calms down an enraged Shinra. Although he has high combat abilities, he struggles with intellectual tasks and often makes unbelievable mistakes or misunderstandings, leading to frequent "idiot" treatment in the story. However, he occasionally notices things that no one else does. Arthur, who aspires to be a knight, often clashes with Shinra, who aspires to be a hero, and they do not get along well. Shinra once insulted knights as "lame," which Arthur took to heart, calling himself the "Knight King."
