Mama Basue at the snack bar is an older maiden dressed with a longer neckline resembling a pompadour hairstyle and sunglasses, often ending her sentences with a heart mark. As an elderly mama figure, she often scolds Akemi's silly jokes and makes wise, reserved statements. However, she sometimes acts out of order or goes on a rampage, such as saying, "Destroy humanity for peace." Akemi often involves her in these outbursts, causing her severe harm like getting her head cracked open with a bottle, but she survives and continues to serve customers. At times she behaves almost like a computer game glitch, showing behavior and appearance that seem non-human, while Akemi and others are still within normal human bounds. Meanwhile, she also expresses concerns and weaknesses reminiscent of an ordinary elderly person, like worries about end-of-life planning. Her background is completely unknown, but the manga's bonus section "Young Days Memories Series of Mama Basue" features pages drawn by other manga artists depicting her past (for instance, Kenichi Tachibana draws her as "fighting on Mars" in a parody of "Terra Formars").
