Murai in Love (Japanese: 村井の恋, Hepburn: Murai no Koi) is a Japanese romantic comedy manga series written and illustrated by Junta Shima.
It was serialized on KADOKAWA's digital manga service, Gene LINE, from June 18, 2018, to June 13, 2022, with its chapters collected into seven volumes.
The story follows Murai, a peculiar high school boy who confesses his love to his teacher, Tanaka.
Tanaka, nicknamed "Iron Mask Ironko" by her students, is secretly a hardcore otome game fanatic who swiftly rejects him.
The very next day, Murai returns with a new hairstyle that transforms him into the spitting image of Hitotose, Tanaka's ultimate favorite character from her beloved game.
Television Drama
A live-action drama adaptation aired on TBS's Drama Stream programming block from April 6 to May 25, 2022.
Hikaru Takahashi starred as Tanaka Ayano, while Ryubi Miyase took on the dual role of Murai and the otome game character Hitotose.
The series featured the voice of Yuuki Kaji as the game character Hitotose, blending the real and fictional worlds.
Anime Series
An anime television series adaptation produced by J.C.Staff aired from October 6 to December 22, 2024.
Directed by Yoshiki Yamakawa with scripts by Susumu Yamakawa, the series was broadcast on Tokyo MX and other networks, and streamed exclusively on Disney+.
