GHOST CONCERT: missing Songs is a 2026 Japanese television anime in the music genre, based on the indie multimedia project GHOST CONCERT created under the original concept of Noriyasu Agematsu, with original work credited to UNISON and Project MiucS.
It premiered on 6 April 2026 on TOKYO MX and other networks, and is animated by ENGI.
The series is directed and series-composed by Masato Jinbo, with character designs by Masaaki Uigawa and music by Elements Garden and Heart Company.
GHOST CONCERT began as an indie project by music producer Noriyasu Agematsu.
After creating major franchises such as Uta no Prince-sama and Symphogear, he launched the project as a way of returning to his creative roots during the twentieth anniversary of his music career.
The concept took shape around the idea of pairing music not only with real historical figures, but also with legendary and fictional figures.
Development was carried out in cooperation with UNISON, a content production team established within Aria Entertainment.
The project nickname is Gokon.
It also carries the meaning of souls burdened with karma, a key theme of the franchise.
After 2020, the project was stalled for a long period because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It resumed in 2025 with the announcement of the anime GHOST CONCERT: missing Songs, marking the franchise’s first major revival in five years.
From that announcement onward, the anime was also presented as part of the shared Song Battle Series label alongside Symphogear.
That framing highlights its signature mix of songs, combat, and emotionally heavy characters.
The story begins in a space where souls with deep regrets and unresolved karma drift after death.
In this strange place, figures who should never awaken again begin to open their eyes, as if someone has called them back from a long sleep.
Joan of Arc meets Akechi Mitsuhide, while Marie Antoinette meets Billy the Kid.
As they speak with one another, they realize they are already dead and now exist as ghosts.
They hear rumors from wandering spirits that some have returned to the living world.
They also learn that someone seems to be summoning them, and that song is somehow connected to the process.
Each spirit carries a painful burden.
Joan fought after hearing a voice, only to be captured and burned in an inquisition.
Mitsuhide killed his lord Oda Nobunaga at Honno-ji, yet lacked the power to survive the age that followed.
Marie loved her king, country, and people, but was executed as a villain.
Billy acted as a righteous outlaw who stole from the wicked, yet was ultimately shot by his old friend Pat Garrett, who had become a lawman.
All of them are souls marked by karma.
At the same time, Dracula encounters Rossweisse.
These two are not historical figures, but legendary beings and fictional monsters also being called toward reality like ghosts.
Unlike historical people, they are shaped by human imagination and retelling.
Yet they too possess unchanging regrets: Rossweisse could not stop her father or save her sister Brunnhilde, and Dracula cannot suppress his thirst for blood.
These ghostly figures, both historical and legendary, are drawn toward the living world.
Their songs and battles form the stage known as the Ghost Concert.
