Hamidashi Creative is a romantic school-themed visual novel first released as an adult game for Windows in 2020 by Madosoft.
It features a story where the introverted protagonist, Tomohiro Izumi, becomes the unexpected student council president and tries to gather a group of unique, mostly truant heroines to form his council team.
The game's popularity led to ports on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, as well as sequels and a short TV anime adaptation scheduled for October 2024.
The game is known for its colorful cast, including talents like a famous illustrator, a popular VTuber, and even the protagonist’s celebrity younger sister, making for lots of quirky and heartfelt moments.
Hamidashi Creative was developed by Madosoft as a follow-up to their previous works.
Unlike their earlier game, Raspberry Cube, which used a map selection system, this game utilizes a traditional choice-based branching format.
The director, “Mojasubii,” expressed the game's core theme as a meeting of “truancy” and “creativity.”
The narrative incorporates modern elements like VTubers, which the staff found to be a uniquely challenging aspect to integrate into a dating sim context.
Set in the everyday world of a Japanese high school, the story is centered on the student council of Sendama Academy.
The school becomes the stage for all sorts of youthful and occasionally wild antics.
Much of the drama unfolds in classrooms, council rooms, and familiar city-side spots like convenience stores.
Tomohiro Izumi has always been a quiet, almost invisible presence in class.
One day, he is suddenly chosen as the next student council president through a random lottery.
Thrust into unwanted attention, Tomohiro seeks advice from his teacher, Miri Izumi, who is also his cousin and the council advisor.
She introduces him to potential council members—all girls who, for their own reasons, have stopped coming to school.
Tomohiro’s efforts to gather his team go awry, until Sio Kamakura, the charismatic and enigmatic former council president, reappears.
Sio is secretly a famous novelist and reveals she’d left on a research trip without giving the council any guidance!
From here, Tomohiro’s journey is full of comedic, romantic, and surprisingly heartfelt moments with his team of creative misfits.
Truancy: Refers to the heroines' tendency to skip school, which is central to their characters and the story’s main conflict.
Student Council: The main organizational body at the school, which the protagonist is forced to lead.
VTuber: One heroine, Asumi Nishiki, is an online virtual streamer, making her storyline relevant to internet culture and youth trends.
