Character Setting

Edit

Hiiro is the main protagonist of this story, a young apprentice swordsman with a mysterious past and an extraordinary secret. After a tragic event that cost him his parents, Hiiro sets out on a journey driven by revenge, determination, and a healthy dose of overconfidence. Despite his high spirits and even higher self-esteem, he is surprisingly naive about the world. Deeply marked—literally and figuratively—by his unusual connection to the evil dragon Dagan Zot, Hiiro's adventure leads him through moments of both comedic blunders and fierce battles. Ultimately, his strength lies not in skill with the sword, but in his unique magical potential and unwavering drive.

Hiiro bears a noticeable mark from his neck to his chest—the same as the evil dragon Dagan Zot—due to his parents switching his heart with the dragon's heart. This unusual mark sets him apart and serves as a constant reminder of his legacy.

Energetic and brimming with confidence, Hiiro often exhibits a dramatic, somewhat over-the-top demeanor. He can be impulsive and tends to believe what others tell him, making him susceptible to buying things he doesn’t really need. Despite his dreams of revenge and thirst for adventure, Hiiro doesn’t particularly enjoy strict training and prefers shortcuts over steady progress. His self-image is grand, but his actual skills don’t always measure up, which sometimes earns him frustrated reactions from those around him.

Ten years ago, during the tragedy known as the "Barbagoa Massacre," Hiiro lost both his parents. He was rescued by Giruu, the loyal retainer of his family, and spent the next decade training under him. With a deep desire to avenge his parents' deaths, Hiiro left home at sixteen, embarking on a perilous quest to defeat Dagan Zot. Throughout his life, Hiiro relied heavily on Giruu for support, guidance, and everyday survival.

Although Hiiro lacks natural talent with the sword—he couldn't even defeat a slime after ten years of training—he possesses remarkable physical abilities and untapped magical power. His potential as a mage surprises even the great sage, Master Theo. When pushed to the edge by fear or anger, Hiiro loses his human reasoning and transforms instinctively into a draconic form, focused solely on defeating whatever enemy stands before him. Despite his aversion to diligent training, his underlying magical abilities make him a formidable opponent when his emotions are high.

The Road to Vengeance

Following his sixteenth birthday, Hiiro sets out alone, determined to seek revenge against Dagan Zot for his parents' deaths. He leaves the safety of home and the guidance of Giruu, setting out with big ambitions and equal naivety.

Training and Trials

Throughout his journey, Hiiro's lack of sword talent becomes clear, much to the exasperation of Giruu and others around him. He relies heavily on Giruu’s support and is sometimes scolded for shirking his training. Hiiro's tendency to believe whatever he is told often lands him in trouble, revealing his inexperience with the world.

Awakening the Dragon

As Hiiro faces danger and emotional extremes, his hidden magical potential comes to life. In moments of intense fear or anger, he transforms into a dragon-like state, losing his rational mind and attacking enemies with overwhelming force.

The Pursuit of the Jewel

In the land of Iinse Kise, Hiiro chases after Nanbuuko, seeking to reclaim the "Jewel of Sealing," once owned by his father, Bairo. This jewel is key to sealing away great evil, and its recovery becomes central to Hiiro’s mission.

The Final Showdown

In the climactic battle, Nanbuuko merges with Dagan Zot, proving to be a fearful adversary. When Nanbuuko turns on Saraato, declaring her no longer useful, Hiiro is enraged and driven to new heights of power—ultimately succeeding in defeating Nanbuuko and avenging his past.

  • Giruu: Hiiro's savior and mentor. Essential to Hiiro’s survival and growth, Giruu has been both caretaker and disciplinarian, often pushing Hiiro to train harder despite his reluctance.
  • Saraato: Plays a significant role in the story, especially during the final battle, where her endangerment spurs Hiiro to victory.
  • Nanbuuko: The main antagonist whom Hiiro pursues for both personal vengeance and the quest for the Jewel of Sealing.

  • Hiiro claims the title of a "wandering swordsman" by the end of the story.
  • Despite being raised for revenge, he struggles with daily life without Giruu's help.
  • Hiiro's self-confidence often clashes humorously with his lack of actual skill.
