Shūsuke Fuji

Shūsuke has a slim build, standing at 167cm and weighing 53kg. He is almost always seen with a gentle, placid smile, keeping his eyes closed, which conceals his true thoughts and emotions.

Shūsuke has a gentle and graceful demeanor, but this pleasant exterior hides a mysterious and guarded inner self. He rarely shows his true feelings, making him an enigmatic figure even to his teammates.

Though typically kind, he possesses a frighteningly intense side that emerges when his loved ones are threatened or when he witnesses unsportsmanlike conduct. He is fiercely protective and deeply caring towards his family and friends, especially his younger brother, Yuta, for whom he has a significant soft spot.

Shūsuke is also known for his extreme love of spicy food and is one of the few characters unaffected by Sadaharu Inui's infamous concoctions, with the exception of the "Aozu" (Blue Vinegar) drink.

Shūsuke is a third-year student in Class 6 at Seishun Academy, where he serves on the Graduation Album Production Committee. He attended Seishundai Third Elementary School and is childhood friends with Kojiro Saeki of Rokkaku Middle School.

His family includes his father, his mother Yoshiko, his older sister Yumiko, and his younger brother Yuta. His family life has nurtured his protective and caring nature.

Shūsuke is a counter-puncher, a playing style that focuses on returning an opponent's shots with greater force and spin. He is renowned as a genius on the court, capable of playing both singles and doubles at a high level. His data is so elusive that even the team's data expert, Sadaharu Inui, cannot get a complete read on him.

Shūsuke's arsenal is built around his signature "Triple Counters," but he has continuously developed new techniques throughout the series.

The Prince of Tennis

In the Tokyo Prefectural Tournament, he demonstrated his overwhelming skill by intentionally falling behind 0-5 against St. Rudolph's Hajime Mizuki before winning. He later played doubles with Takashi Kawamura in the finals against Yamabuki.

During the Kanto Tournament, he faced Jiro Akutagawa of Hyotei, the Saeki-Itsuki pair from Rokkaku, and Akaya Kirihara of Rikkai.

At the National Tournament, he played doubles against Higa's Rin Hirakoba and Hiroshi Chinen. In the semifinals against Shitenhoji, he faced Kuranosuke Shiraishi in a singles match that resulted in his only official singles loss. In the final, he played against Masaharu Nio from Rikkai.

The New Prince of Tennis

Shūsuke joined the U-17 Japan Representative Training Camp, where he defeated his brother Yuta in a tie-break match. He later challenged Kunimitsu Tezuka before his departure, revealing he had intended to quit tennis if he lost, but Tezuka saw through his resolve and stopped the match.

In the Pre-World Cup exhibition against Germany, he paired with Duke Watanabe to face the Michael Bismarck and Elmar Siegfried duo. During the World Cup group stage, he was selected for "Team Bamboo" and played doubles with Masaharu Nio against Australia's Mac McGregor and Milky Millman.
