Hirokazu Ukita

Born on November 9, 1977 (around 1950 in the live-action film version, 1980 in the anime version) (26 years old in the original and anime versions, 47-56 years old in the live-action film version). Height: 161 cm, Weight: 51 kg. Blood type: A. Likes: cigarettes, Dislikes: waiting.

A detective in the Japanese Task Force. He has a short temper and is somewhat poor at deep planning, but he is a capable person with courage and initiative. He is an extreme heavy smoker. In the series, he is only referred to by his last name.

Like Aizawa, he harbored distrust towards L. On April 18, 2004 (2007 in the anime version), he rushed to stop Demegawa's Kira special on Sakura TV but was purged by the second Kira, who possessed the Shinigami Eyes, in front of Sakura TV. He is the only member of the Task Force to die in the line of duty.

Before dying, he attempted to press the emergency notification device belt given to him by Watari but was unable to do so.

In the live-action film version, his character setting is reversed with Mogi's. As a result, he survives without dying. Additionally, unlike in the original, he is acquainted with Light and there is a scene where he calls him "Light-kun."

He does not appear in the drama version, but instead, the character Takeo Oikawa, a supervisor, appears.

In Volume 13, the author wrote that they had to choose between killing him or Aizawa, and ultimately decided to kill Ukita.
