Character Introduction

Edit
Born on December 13, 1989 (1992 in the anime version) (19 years old → 20 years old). Height 171 cm, weight 52 kg. Blood type is A. Likes chocolate, dislikes those superior to himself. Raised at Wammy's House, an orphanage in Winchester, Hampshire, England, built by Watari to nurture L's successor. As a candidate to succeed L, he was always second to Near. His first-person pronoun is "ore." His real name is "Mihael Keehl." A young man with a bad look in his eyes and a bob of blond hair. He wears eccentric and stylish black enamel clothing. He is constantly biting on a chocolate bar. He is injured in the story and sustains a large scar on his face. In terms of action, thought, and atmosphere, he is a contrasting character to Near. During his time at the orphanage, he was constantly losing to Near, which made him competitive, and he shows a strong sense of rivalry against those superior to him, especially Near. He is willing to commit crimes to achieve his goals and sometimes becomes too emotional, neglecting important matters. He also has a conscientious side, as seen when he proceeds fairly with the exchange of the notebook and hostages and regrets Matt's sacrifice. When he kidnapped Takada, he gave her a blanket instead of stripping her, but this backfired. After L's death, he refused Roger's suggestion to succeed L together with Near and disappeared, giving up the position of L's successor to Near. Later, with the goal of capturing Kira before Near and becoming number one, that is, eliminating those above him, he joined the upper organization of the American mafia led by Rod Ross, bringing the head of a rival organization's boss as a gift, and became the brains of the family. After the mafia was destroyed by Kira, he teamed up with Matt, also from Wammy's House, and pursued Kira while contacting Lidner, indirectly cornering Kira. Just before the direct confrontation between Light and Near, he kidnapped Kiyomi Takada, but Takada, who had been informed of Mello's real name by Light beforehand, wrote his name on a piece of the notebook near a church in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, and he died on January 26, 2010 (2013 in the anime version). His body was found unidentified along with Takada, who committed suicide. Mello's actions led to Mikami's movement, which contributed to Near's victory, bringing an end to the long battle and the Kira case that began with the confrontation between Light and L, lasting about seven years. He does not appear in the live-action film version, but his name is mentioned by Ryuzaki in the original drama "NEW GENERATION," set ten years after the film. He makes a guest appearance in a four-panel comic of "Bakuman." due to a chocolate connection. In the novelization "Los Angeles BB Murder Cases," he serves as the narrator. In the drama version, he appears from the beginning as another personality of Near. He communicates through a doll that Near possesses. Unlike the original, he is provocative and hysterical, with a radical personality that incites Near to eliminate L and Kira. After L's death, he conspires with Himura to kidnap Sayu to obtain the Death Note, pretending to take over Near's body to corner Light. Feeling anger at being framed for Himura's suicide and Soichiro's murder, he mentally corners Light and the Kira group by attempting assassination, and with the cooperation of Mogi and others, he leads Light into a warehouse, entrusting Near with the final step to corner Kira.
