Character Setting

Edit

Ako Shirabe is the fourth main Cure from the anime "Suite PreCure♪" and is recognized as the 23rd PreCure in the franchise. She stands out as the very first elementary school PreCure in the series, being a 9-year-old third grader. Initially, Ako keeps her identity as a princess a secret, donning a mysterious masked persona. Her serious demeanor and mature personality contrast with her youthful age, and her role is marked by inner conflict, family ties, and gradual acceptance into the main team.

Ako has orange, short bobbed hair and wears undersized, rectangular glasses. Her casual outfit features a pink T-shirt underneath blue overalls.

This look is a disguise to conceal her true identity; back in Major Land, she had long hair down to her waist, adorned with a sunflower tiara, and wore a yellow dress without glasses.

When transforming into Cure Muse, her "masked" version appears in a black pantsuit with a mask, making her seem as tall as the other (older) Cures, achieved by wearing secret boots. Her true Cure Muse form has a yellow-themed costume, ribbons, and a heart-shaped tiara, with her natural small stature clearly visible.

Ako is calm, quiet, and remarkably mature for her age. She rarely shows strong emotion, keeping a composed facade.

However, beneath her silence, Ako is determined, competitive, and possesses a gentle side, occasionally revealing a softer expression or stubbornness.

She initially shuns others due to loneliness and her complex feelings about her family but slowly warms up to her classmates and team.

Ako insists others avoid honorifics and refer to her and the Suite PreCure team by their first names, emphasizing equality.

Ako Shirabe is the princess of Major Land, the daughter of Queen Aphrodite and King Mephisto.

After Mephisto becomes corrupted and turns to evil, Ako flees to live with her grandfather, Otokichi Shirabe, in Kanon Town.

She distances herself from others, burdened by the pain of being separated from her family and torn between her parents' opposing sides.

Driven by love for her parents and a sense of duty, she becomes Cure Muse to try to save her father without revealing her true identity.

As Cure Muse, Ako possesses exceptional physical abilities and dexterity, excelling in gym activities and even surprising adults with handmade gifts.

She initially appears as a silent, masked Cure using advanced defensive and sealing abilities, such as summoning rainbow keyboards to bind enemies or create barriers.

Upon revealing her true identity, her combat skills become more versatile. Her signature attack moves include "Precure Shining Circle" and "Precure Sparkling Shower."

Ako also demonstrates surprising proficiency with secret boots and even has a knack for stilt-walking.

Ako has complex relationships centered on her family. Her father, Mephisto, and mother, Aphrodite, are rulers of rival lands, and her grandfather, Otokichi Shirabe, provides her refuge.

She gradually forms bonds with Hibiki Hojo, Kanade Minamino, and Ellen Kurokawa, initially keeping her distance but eventually accepting their friendship.

She is notably cold to Sōta Minamino at first but slowly spends more time with him and other classmates, growing into new friendships beyond the core team.

  • Ako is the youngest regular Cure, both in physical stature and actual age.
  • She wore secret boots in her masked form to seem the same height as middle schoolers.
  • She was the only elementary student on the main team at her debut.
  • Her actions embody themes of family, reconciliation, and independent resolve.
  • Merchandise for Cure Muse was limited due to her late introduction to the main group.

"The goddess's melody, strummed upon the strings—Cure Muse!"

Mysterious Beginnings

Ako arrives in Kanon Town under disguise to hide from those who might recognize her as the princess of Major Land. She keeps her true self secret and maintains an emotionally reserved facade. As a new student, she asks classmates to call her by her first name, shunning honorifics.

The Masked Cure

Ako fights as a mysterious, silent masked Cure who never speaks. All communication is provided by her companion, the Fairy Tones, especially Dodory. Her masked persona assists Hibiki Hojo and Kanade Minamino during moments of crisis, but Ako refrains from joining the team fully or revealing her motive.

She demonstrates exceptional combat skills, using unique sealing and barrier abilities. Her identity and motivations become a major subplot, with Hibiki and Kanade determined to discover who the mysterious Cure actually is.

Inner Conflict and Growth

Ako struggles with being separated from her family, witnessing her father's dark transformation and feeling alone. Wanting to save Mephisto, she refuses to take sides, acting as an independent party. Over time, her interactions with Hibiki, Kanade, and Ellen soften her stance, and she begins to accept their support and friendship.

Despite her young age, Ako's burden of family and destiny weighs heavily on her decisions. Her quiet strength and perseverance become apparent to her classmates and the other Cures.

Revelation and Resolve

During a critical battle in episode 34, Ako protects Mephisto and is torn between her role as Cure Muse and her wish to save her father. With encouragement from Otokichi via Dodory, and inspired by Hibiki's words, Ako gains the conviction to reveal her identity in front of her team—and, more importantly, her father—in episode 35.

She rescues Mephisto and is relieved of the need to hide her true self any longer. Her parents ask her to return home, but Ako chooses to remain in Kanon Town to continue her mission as a PreCure.

New Bonds and Epilogue

After defeating Noise, Ako continues to live in Kanon Town and attends Kanon Elementary School. She is shown making new friends and integrating more into everyday school life, indicating her personal growth and recovery from loneliness.

Ako Shirabe, as Cure Muse, personifies themes of justice, love, and the reconciliation of inner conflict. As an elementary school PreCure, she brings a fresh and unique dynamic to "Suite PreCure♪" through her journey from solitude and secrecy to open friendship and family healing.
