After suffering a serious attack by the Grimus of Wrath, she spent a long time hospitalized and became subject to cruel experiments.

She was used as a living experiment at the hospital, where she was injected with energy extracted from weapons known as Marticion, turning her halfway into a weaponized magician.

Due to manipulation of her memories, she remains unaware of these changes to herself.

While in the hospital, Rie Matoba appears mostly human thanks to a special bracelet she wears on her arm.

This device maintains her sanity and allows her to hold onto her human form.

If the bracelet is removed, she transforms into a monster, driven by uncontrollable instincts and a violent rage.

Her monstrous state makes her a threat to anyone nearby, regardless of prior relationships.

Rie Matoba was kidnapped by Midoriko as bait to lure out her brother, Matoba Shin.

During her captivity, she lost control and transformed, escaping in a fit of monstrous power.

She returned to the hospital, but soon after her recovery, she once again lost her mind and, tragically, killed Shoko and Sayori during her rampage.
