One of the heroines of this work, Aoi Sakurai is a second-year student at Ouka Girls’ High School. She dislikes men, and her motivation for aspiring to join the Public Security Force is “to shoot molesters.” Although she is slender, she excels in martial arts and firearm handling, having been taught shooting and Aikido by her father, who is a police officer at the Metropolitan Police Department. She was at the top of her class during the short-term training, but she dislikes the idea of working under her father’s subordinates.
Unlike Naoto Takayama, who wishes for a peaceful training experience, Aoi always hopes for major incidents to occur and constantly carries a self-defense handgun (a Beretta M92 in the anime). This often leads to conflict with Naoto, although she harbors feelings for him. However, she finds it difficult to be honest about her emotions.
Due to a childhood trauma from falling into the gap between a platform and a train, she is afraid of deep gaps and always leaps over them when boarding or exiting a train. Because of her tendency to “shoot molesters,” she is known as the “Shinigami of Tokyo Station” and is feared even by the staff of the Tokyo Central Post Office. Her name is derived from the Sakurai Line, and her admired figure is Hitomi Gonō. She is also delighted to be called the “post-Gonō.”
