Ares

Ares is portrayed as the god of war and one of the Twelve Olympian Gods.

Within this setting, he holds the position of the sixth pillar among these deities.

He appears as a beautiful young man with a robust, muscular body.

His most notable facial feature is a clearly cleft chin, which makes him instantly recognizable.

Among many gods who act selfishly and recklessly, Ares stands out as one of the few relatively sensible and reasonable deities.

He has a grounded attitude and can behave with common sense, even while being the god of war.

Despite his status as a war god, he is not purely bloodthirsty or chaotic in temperament.

He is capable of reflection, respect, and forming deep bonds, especially with those he has fought.

Ares also has a certain pride and a tendency to boast about his glorious battles.

He enjoys recalling his past achievements, particularly a famous clash that defined his relationship with Heracles.

During a past council concerning the survival of humanity, a proposal was made to admonish and punish humankind.

The chosen place for this divine chastisement was the city of Thebes, which Ares considered to be his own garden or personal domain.

Because the action would take place in Thebes, Ares decided to personally lead a divine army into the city.

He took command as a true war god, directing the forces of the gods as they advanced on his familiar battlefield.

However, his army was confronted by Heracles, who had drunk ambrosia and taken on the power of Zeus.

Empowered in this way, Heracles stood in opposition to the advancing divine host.

On the battlefield at Thebes, Ares and Heracles faced each other directly.

Their clash was fierce and evenly matched, with both combatants fighting on equal terms.

Neither side could easily overpower the other, and their fight escalated to a level that shook even the gods.

The duel became a symbol of divine might colliding, with Ares embodying war and Heracles carrying Zeus’s power.

In the end, their fight was interrupted by the sudden intervention of Zeus himself.

Zeus stepped in and brought the confrontation to a halt before it could go any further.

Although Ares can no longer compete with Heracles as he exists now, he remembers that battle with pride.

He often recounts the encounter in a boastful yet sincere way, treating it as one of his proudest moments.

After that clash, Ares and Heracles came to acknowledge one another deeply.

They formed a bond akin to sworn brothers, born from mutual respect on the battlefield.

Ares holds absolute trust in Heracles and openly expresses this.

He calls Heracles his greatest “god-friend,” placing him above all others in terms of camaraderie.

Even while admitting that he now falls far short of Heracles’ current strength, Ares feels no shame in that gap.

Instead, he takes joy in having once fought him as an equal and in now standing by his side as a trusted ally.
