A senior wizard and close aide to Serie, traditionally in charge of the third phase of the exams. A disciple of the great wizard Serie, he became the first class-A wizard half a century ago. He is also the developer of the escape golem that played a crucial role in the second phase of the exams.

While Serie mockingly calls him "a cowardly boy," his strength is highly regarded. At the venue for the wizard exams, he instantly recognized Frieren's magic restriction, showcasing his exceptional abilities among first-class wizards. Driven by his desire to leave a mark in history, even if infamous, he attacked Frieren, breaking through her defensive magic and injuring her, although Frieren dismissed the encounter as "a waste of time."

In his youth, he worked at the royal court and developed a deep friendship with his colleague Denken. Despite being poor at navigating court life and eventually being ousted, he has always felt indebted to Denken, who protected him until the end. To help Denken, he and Edel investigated the Golden Realm. Inside, they were attacked by Mahato but skillfully counterattacked, allowing Edel to read Mahato's memories before retreating using a golem.
