Wazukyan is a male Narehate and one of the Three Sages who leads the Narehate Village in the sixth layer, the "Capital of the Unreturned," in the Abyss. He is a key figure in the village's establishment and its current guidance.
Wazukyan is known for his incredibly lighthearted demeanor, exemplified by his high-fiving Riko upon their first meeting and always greeting other Narehate. He holds a leadership position among the Narehate.
He is credited with deeply influencing the villagers, including Riko and Reg, by teaching them the concept of "value." Though the village is said to be 150 years old, the exact duration of his rule is unclear due to time distortion in the Abyss's deeper layers.
Wazukyan's Narehate form is more akin to a sculpted artwork than a living creature. His face is divided into red and white, and he possesses two enormous horns.
This sculptural face is merely an outer shell, concealing his original human face which remains largely unchanged beneath.
Wazukyan's core "value," as assessed by Riko, is "immeasurable exploration" and being "a person who just does it." He is a leader who will resort to any means—unconventional, ruthless, high-risk, or even self-sacrificing—to achieve his grand objectives.
He constantly seeks the quickest and best solutions, focusing solely on the accomplishment of his goals. This unwavering dedication resonates with Riko, who recognizes a similar drive in him, and he praised her for accurately intuiting his thoughts.
Despite his extreme methods, he is not entirely devoid of human elements. He once showed cold sweat and a silent smile when Vueloeluko questioned if his actions truly reflected Irumyuui's wishes. He also displayed a flicker of fear when Riko's group appeared, sensing their potential to drastically alter the situation.
Wazukyan's ultimate desire is to continue the adventure and exploration towards the Golden City at the bottom of the Abyss, alongside the Narehate villagers. This will has not wavered, even after 150 years as a Narehate.
He believes, "Don't worry, what I believe will come true," and "Wishes reside in life." His decision to help Riko was driven by the hope that her White Whistle power could control artifacts, enabling her to make a decision that would lift the village's curse.
Wazukyan possesses an intuition so profound it is described as "divine," often appearing to be true foresight. He guided his team as a prophet.
Belaf even praised him, stating he was "divine" and could "find the Golden City even if it didn't exist." This extraordinary ability was evident even during his time as a human, as he foresaw Vueloeluko joining their expedition with an important item.
There is a theory, hinted at by Belaf's warning to Nanachi, "Don't underestimate the divine," and Nanachi's own internal thoughts about "being forced to choose a situation," that Wazukyan's "prophecies" might be closer to mind control. This suggests he might subtly manipulate others into acting according to his plans, rather than possessing genuine precognition.
Wazukyan was once the leader of the "Ganja" exploration team, a desperate group that aimed to reach the Abyss's Golden City. The residents of the Narehate Village are former members of this team.
He often spoke of them as a collection of individuals who, for various reasons, had abandoned or lost their homelands. Under his leadership, the Ganja team reached the Abyss's sixth layer, the Capital of the Unreturned.
However, they faced near annihilation from a "Water Mimic" and parasitic native creatures. Faced with despair, Wazukyan proposed using the "Cradle of Desire," an egg-shaped artifact found there, on Irumyuui.
He declared, "That child will surely be our salvation," demonstrating immense mental fortitude when all others despaired. By consuming the creatures Irumyuui continuously birthed, the team was saved.
Subsequently, he used a second egg to transform Irumyuui into their desired homeland, laying the foundation for the current Narehate Village. He attempted to use a third egg on himself, but it failed, and the egg was later recovered by the village-transformed Irumyuui.
Wazukyan is voiced by Hirata Hiroaki.
