Mitaka

A 59-year-old head of the Criminal Investigation Division. He is a veteran police officer known for his calm, cold, and strict personality, and his lack of expression causes fear both inside and outside the department. Bald and overweight, he was once a legendary detective specializing in theft cases, known as the "God of Thieves." Even after becoming a manager, he continued to lead numerous investigations and has trained many excellent subordinates, giving him substantial influence at the scene.

However, because he never lets personal feelings affect investigations and rarely praises his subordinates, he often clashes with those around him. In particular, his relationship with Yoneda, the chief of the First Investigation Squad at headquarters, and Yoneda's subordinate Kamata, is very strained due to their differing approaches to training juniors.

For new detectives in his division, he has them tend to the potted plants in the office to help them cultivate their powers of observation. He places complete trust in Minamoto, who demonstrates the qualities of a detective, including in the care of plants. Toward the Deputy Captain, who was once his subordinate but now outranks him, he continues to treat him as if he were still below him. When overworked, his mood becomes unusually elevated, and he starts performing tasks he would never normally touch.

His son is also a detective in another department of the Okajima Prefectural Police and is a peer of Fuji and Minamoto.
