Guitarist (anime version only). Vice-commander of the Shinsengumi, the top idol group directly under the shogunate. He believes in Kondo's philosophy that only Heaven's Song can protect the peace of the people and the country, and sings for that purpose. Inherits the Piece Soul from Kondo and later awakens. Afterwards, he becomes an ally of Ryoma and the others. As a child, he was apparently a sharp-edged kid and was taken in by the sword dojo "Tennen Rishin-ryu" after becoming an orphan. There, he met Isami Kondo, who accepted him even after he secretly avenged his parents' death, and he reveres Kondo for setting him on the right path. Serious and shy.
