Sayu Yagami

Born on June 18, 1989 (1992 in the anime version, 1999 in the drama version). Blood type is O. Light's younger sister.

Part One

14-15 years old. Height 147 cm, weight 38 kg. Likes idols, dislikes difficult things. A second-year student at a private English-focused middle school. Born and raised in a wealthy family. She is bright and lively, and unlike her brother Light, she has a straightforward personality without any hidden sides. She often receives study help from Light. She adores Soichiro and Light. Frequently uses the phrase "gyah." She is also a big fan of the popular artist Ryuuga Hideki. According to Soichiro, she is the kind of girl who would accidentally write the name of someone she dislikes in the Death Note and then cry about it.

Part Two

20-21 years old. Height 163 cm, weight 45 kg. Likes shoes, dislikes alcohol. A university student. She grows into a talented and beautiful woman and is living her university life, but she is kidnapped as a new hostage by a mafia group after Takimura, the head of the National Police Agency, is killed in the Takimura kidnapping incident. She is released during the exchange deal with the Death Note, but suffers a deep emotional wound and takes a leave of absence from school to recuperate. Her state after the deaths of Soichiro and Light is not depicted, but she is shown in a single panel in volume 11 attending her coming-of-age ceremony.

Live-action film version

Her setting is changed from a middle school student to a high school student. From the first part, she expresses that Kira is "not good," and in the second part, during the second Kira incident, she witnesses police officers, including Mogi, being killed in front of her, and publicly denounces the second Kira as a "murderer" in front of the camera, portraying her as a strong-willed character. She is not informed that Light was Kira, as in the original, and is told by Soichiro that "Light was killed fighting Kira."
