At the start of high school, Ayane was afraid of Sawako Kuronuma because of rumors.

During the first summer, Sawako talks to her, and after getting to know each other, they become close friends.

Ayane and Chizuru Yoshida both become very special to Sawako.

Struggles with Self-Doubt

Ayane always took the safe road in life and hated that about herself.

She remembers how she left her volleyball team after being left out.

She saw herself as someone who always ran away when things got hard.

Romance and Heartbreak

Ayane has many boyfriends but never truly loves any of them.

She briefly dates MOGI, but breaks up with him and cries when she learns he was only interested in her physically.

After a school trip, Kento Miura starts to like Ayane and tries hard to win her heart.

She finally gives him a chance, and they start dating.

However, Ayane keeps choosing the easy path and plans to go to a university in Sapporo with Kento, even though she really wants to go to Tokyo.

They argue when her true wishes slip out, and she blames herself.

Ayane finally breaks up with Kento, telling him she needs to stand on her own and become a new version of herself.

First Love and Rejection

After breaking up with Kento Miura, Ayane realizes her first true love is her teacher, Kazuichi Arai (Pin).

On Valentine’s Day, after finding out she got accepted into her Tokyo university, Ayane confesses to Pin.

He rejects her kindly, saying she's still too young for him, but it’s shown that her words affected him.
