After the Joi War ended, Otose visited her husband Tatsugorou’s grave during a snowy day.
She met a hungry Gintoki Sakata, who asked if he could eat her offering of manju.
She replied, “Ask my husband,” and let him have the food.
Because of this kindness, Gintoki Sakata promised to always protect her.
This is how they started living and working together, with him staying upstairs in her shop.
Friendship with Jirochou Doromizu
