Kamon is a male onmyoji from MAO, a former servant of the Goko family and one of Mao’s senior fellow disciples, known for his mastery of wood-based techniques, refined manners, and ruthless efficiency toward anyone he judges an enemy.
Kamon is one of the five successor candidates gathered at the Five-Color Hall.
Among the five, he ranked relatively high by seniority, and even Hakubi acknowledged his exceptional talent.
He is a handsome, gentle-looking man who speaks politely and with careful consideration for others.
His first-person pronoun is "I", rendered in Japanese as the soft, bookish "boku", which matches his mild demeanor.
Despite his courteous surface, Kamon shows no mercy to those he regards as foes.
He believes only what he has personally seen and has little interest in the past.
Kamon is a practitioner of wood-element onmyoji arts.
He excels at controlling plants and carries a large scythe.
A flower pinned to his suit has a hypnotic effect.
By exposing someone to its scent, he can make that person believe he is someone they already know.
This ability allows him to move easily through high society.
In the Taisho era, it was noted that this technique gave him strong connections in social circles.
Kamon is calm, polished, and easygoing on the surface.
At the same time, he has a strong sense of responsibility beneath that detached attitude.
He had no interest at all in curse-killing.
During the struggle over succession, all he wanted was to flee together with his lover, Masago.
Later, he was deeply pained by the fact that the spirit seeds he had once created turned into a curse that devoured lives.
In response, he developed a herbicide to destroy them.
In the Taisho era, Kamon used the alias Kuchinawa.
He was employed by Ibaraki Tanehiko and handled the cleanup work for Tanehiko’s crimes.
However, when Tanehiko was disowned by his father, Kamon killed him under the father’s orders.
This strongly suggests that his true employer was not Tanehiko, but Tanehiko’s father.
After that, Kamon took shelter with a noble family.
He lived there parasitically, spending his days as a playmate for the family’s daughters.
Following the Tanehiko incident, he and Mao became allies who fought on the same side.
Their relationship shifted from fellow disciples to occasional collaborators.
About 900 years earlier, Kamon was in love with Masago.
She tried to run away because she wanted no part in the succession struggle, but she was killed.
In the present, Masago’s remains are in the possession of Shiranui.
Kamon wishes to take her back.
After the destruction of the Goko family, Kamon searched for Masago’s whereabouts.
During that journey, he met Natsuno again.
Toshiyuki Toyonaga voices Kamon.
