Later, Tsurayuki Rokuonji falls into financial trouble, which leads Kyouya and the others into developing a doujin game.
They succeed in finishing the project, but the cost is higher than it first appears.
In order to complete the game, Kyouya repeatedly compromises during production.
Those compromises gradually damage the team’s creative passion.
As a result, Tsurayuki eventually leaves the university.
Kyouya is left carrying deep regret over what his choices have caused.
While struggling with that guilt, Kyouya slips through time once again and arrives in 2018.
This is not the same future he originally knew.
In this altered world, he spends several months as a development department director at Attraction Point Co., Ltd.
His life has changed dramatically compared with the future he first experienced.
In this version of 2018, he is married to Aki Shino and is the father of one child.
It is a warm and meaningful life, but one built on a painful truth.
Kyouya comes to believe that this future exists because his self-centered choices robbed the so-called Platinum Generation of their potential.
Unable to accept that outcome, he says goodbye to his wife and child and chooses to return to the past once more.
According to Keiko Tomioka, returning to the past does not erase the 2018 world he leaves behind.
Instead, the original 30-year-old Kyouya Hashiba of that timeline reappears there.
That means the future he visited continues to exist even after he departs.
