Series: Gushing over Magical Girls

She is the youngest known character in the series whose age is revealed.

Among the Enormita members, she is treated as the “kid of the team” and is somewhat protected from the more extreme activities.

Korisu is usually quiet and expressionless, but she can communicate without any problem.

Her lack of facial expression does not mean she is emotionless; it just does not show on her face most of the time.

In reality, her motivations are exactly what you would expect from a child her age.

She transforms and uses her powers simply because it looks fun, casually dragging both allies and enemies into her games without hesitation.

As the story progresses, Korisu slowly becomes more expressive.

She starts to show exasperation, satisfaction, excitement, and motivation on her face, and other characters even comment that she makes “fed-up” faces a lot.

She also likes to imitate other people’s expressions and poses, which helps her develop a surprisingly wide range of facial reactions.

Despite this growth, she remains extremely taciturn.

In the anime, she mostly “talks” using variations of a single sound, “n,” and other characters somehow understand her.

Across both manga and anime, the only time she clearly speaks a different full word on her own is “Trance Magia” in Episode 11 (anime Episode 5), where the dialogue is printed in very tiny letters in the manga.

Korisu is introduced as a member of the villain group Enormita.

Her transformed identity within the organization is Nero Alice, a magical girl-like form with three star marks.

Within the narrative, she functions as both comic relief and an unexpected powerhouse.

Her childish whims turn dangerous once her reality-warping powers are involved, but she treats battles like elaborate games.

Because she is so young, the series makes it clear that she is somewhat shielded from the more explicit or “training” themed activities that Enormita members sometimes engage in.

Characters like Utena Hiiragi (Magia Baiser) and Kiwi Araga (Leopard) actively try to keep her from seeing such scenes.

She appears in both the manga and the anime adaptation.

An extra from volume 3 of the manga confirms details such as her age, birthday, favorite foods, and her voice actress.

Korisu is a so-called “latchkey kid.”

Her mother is very busy with work and is often away, leaving Korisu alone at home for long stretches.

Because she has no regular playmates, she spends a lot of time playing by herself.

Her toys and stuffed animals are worn down and damaged from constant use, but she still treasures them deeply and refuses to throw them away.

For a time, some readers assumed that Korisu’s mother might be neglectful for leaving a nine-year-old alone with only money for meals.

However, the story later clarifies that the mother’s absence is work-related rather than malicious.

In Episode 49 (volume 10), Korisu’s mother finally appears.

It is revealed that she trusts Utena and Kiwi enough to leave Korisu in their care and that their relationship is fundamentally good, even if the situation is imperfect.

The anime moves this appearance earlier and adds extra lines that show the mother has noticed how much fun Korisu seems to be having since joining Enormita.

It is unclear whether she knows the details of Enormita, but it is implied she does not fully understand what the organization really is.

The anime also reveals that the stuffed toy Utena repaired for Korisu was originally a birthday present from her mother.

Some of the other stuffed animals were bought by her grandmother when she came to visit, and Utena notices that Korisu now has some newer toys as well, emphasizing that Korisu’s family relationships are warmer than early chapters suggested.

Relationship with Utena Hiiragi

Utena Hiiragi, who transforms into Magia Baiser, is one of the people Korisu trusts the most.

Korisu’s fondness for Utena begins when Utena repairs her beloved broken doll.

After that, Korisu becomes attached to Utena despite rarely speaking.

Utena, whose main activities increasingly revolve around her darker “problematic girl” side, still shows a gentle, caring side when dealing with Korisu.

Korisu often sticks close to Utena and sees her as a reliable older figure.

In turn, Utena is protective of Korisu and tries to keep her away from morally or visually questionable situations.

Relationship with Kiwi Araga

Kiwi Araga, who transforms into Leopard, has a more teasing, sibling-like dynamic with Korisu.

They are not on bad terms, but Korisu gives Kiwi noticeably colder, more “tsundere” responses, especially early on.

Kiwi often buys Korisu toys like plastic models or hero transformation items, which do not entirely match Korisu’s tastes.

Even so, Korisu cherishes the gifts she receives from Kiwi and keeps them with care.

As the story progresses, their cooperation improves significantly.

They perform coordinated attacks together, and scenes of the two acting as a duo become more common.

One example of their teamwork is when Korisu controls stuffed animals while Kiwi hides bombs (Leopard’s specialty) inside them for surprise attacks.

Through these battles and everyday interactions, their bond becomes noticeably stronger.

Relationship with Other Enormita Members

Korisu is generally adored by the entire Enormita roster.

Even members who normally act cold or aloof soften up around her.

She spends a lot of time with Nemo Anemo (Lübel Blume), who loves social games and mobile games.

Korisu often sits on Nemo’s lap while they play games together, sharing her hobbies and time with this “older sister–mother” figure.

Although not as prominently featured, Matama Akoya (Roco Musica) also dotes on her.

There are scenes of Matama painting Korisu’s nails with manicure or letting Korisu lie on top of her head, reinforcing how pampered Korisu is within the group.

Overall, Korisu functions as a mascot-like presence within Enormita.

Her innocence and small size bring out the strangely nurturing side of these otherwise dangerous villains.

Relationship with Haruka Hanabishi and Trance Magia

Outside Enormita, Korisu is also close to Haruka Hanabishi, who transforms into Magia Magenta and is a member of the magical girl team Trance Magia.

Importantly, neither side initially knows the other’s true identity as enemies.

Because they are unaware of each other’s affiliations, Korisu and Haruka become genuine friends.

Haruka is caring and loves looking after others, and she and Korisu even play with dolls together, forming a warm, sisterly bond.

Korisu also interacts with other Trance Magia members without realizing they are supposed to be on the opposing side.

This dual life sets up interesting conflicts and emotional stakes as the story unfolds.

Transformation and Design

Nero Alice is Korisu Morino’s transformed form as a member of Enormita.

In this form, she is a magical girl–style combatant whose power level is indicated by three stars.

Because Korisu is still a child, her magical power is unstable and lacks long-term stamina.

She cannot fight for extended periods; after using her abilities for too long, she runs out of energy and simply falls asleep on the spot.

Her design includes a pocket watch with a cross-shaped star attached, hanging from her waist.

This watch is a key symbol of her abilities and thematic connection to time, space, and closed “playroom” spaces.

Abilities

One of Nero Alice’s signature powers is to trap targets inside a dollhouse-like space.

Within this zone, she creates a barrier and manipulates the target’s perception and recognition.

Inside her dollhouse barrier, she can perform both offensive and healing actions.

This makes her a versatile fighter, capable of turning the battlefield into a controlled “play world” where she dictates the rules.

She can also manipulate stuffed animals and turn them into puppets for attack or support.

In cooperation with Leopard, she can hide Leopard’s bombs inside these plush toys for devastating combo attacks.

Despite the playful visuals, Nero Alice’s powers are extremely dangerous.

Her childlike mindset, combined with reality-warping magic, makes her battles feel like twisted games where she may not fully grasp the consequences.

Early on, Korisu appears to be a mostly emotionless, quiet girl who just wants to play.

Her background as a lonely child and latchkey kid explains why she values toys and stuffed animals so deeply.

As the story continues, she becomes more expressive.

She learns to show annoyance when the adults around her act ridiculous, joy when she plays with friends, and excitement when new “games” (battles or plans) arise.

A special leaflet included with volume 5 of the manga notes that she is now often seen making exasperated faces because of the absurdity of the people around her.

Later chapters and extras show more scenes where she looks satisfied, motivated, or visibly thrilled, highlighting her emotional growth.

Her relationships with Utena, Kiwi, Nemo, Matama, and Haruka help her open up.

Being protected and doted on by almost everyone around her allows Korisu to experience a proper childhood, even in the middle of a war between magical girls and villains.

The anime’s additional scenes further soften her image by emphasizing her good relationship with her mother and grandmother.

Together, these elements turn Korisu Morino from a mysterious, quiet child into a richly developed character whose playfulness and vulnerability stand out in the chaotic world of Gushing over Magical Girls.
