There is a man whose specialty is immortal oddities and who is known as the "Puppeteer." He has a small and slender build, and he pursues oddities out of personal resentment. He is not part of Gaen Izuko’s network, but exists independently. He approaches immortal oddities with an aesthetic curiosity.
He prefers to use origami, especially a thousand paper cranes and traditional paper dolls, in his work. Having grown weary of following the will of others, he began to choose his actions according to his own will. As a result, following Ononoki Yotsugi's "a rule where the exceptions are more numerous," he ended his own life.
In "Mayoi Hell," it is revealed that he had already died as a human. In order to leave the network, he created a doll to house his own soul and turned himself into an oddity. According to him, he freely travels between the afterlife and the living world, enjoying a carefree existence; however, Koyomi Araragi suspects that there are actually some restrictions to his existence.
