Slaine Troyard is a 16-year-old boy from Earth, now living on Mars in the Vers Empire. He moved to Mars with his scientist father, but after an accident, he was saved by Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia, making him deeply loyal to her. Life on Mars was hard because most Martians looked down on him for being an Earthling. Over time, Slaine's loyalty and feelings for Asseylum pushed him into many difficult situations and decisions, leading him through battles, betrayals, and heartbreak. He grows from a kind, emotional boy to a complicated figure, sometimes admired, sometimes feared, and always pulled between hope and regret.

Slaine is a teenage boy with a slim build. He often wears the formal clothing of the Vers Empire or a simple servant’s outfit when serving under Count Cruhteo.
Slaine is expressive and wears his heart on his sleeve.
He acts out of emotion more than logic, sometimes leading to trouble.
He is extremely loyal, especially to Asseylum Vers Allusia.
He tends to put the needs and safety of others before himself.
His kind and gentle side often inspire people, but he also struggles to make logical decisions.
He can be impulsive and naive, which sometimes causes big problems for himself and others.
Slaine was born on Earth in Northern Europe.
He traveled the world because his father was a researcher.
Five years before the story, Slaine and his father moved to Mars for research.
On the journey, they had an accident that left Slaine close to death, but Asseylum Vers Allusia saved him, which let him later activate Aldnoah.
His father died, leaving him alone on Mars.
He became a servant for Count Cruhteo but faced discrimination as an Earthling.
Asseylum asked him to become her teacher in Earth knowledge.
Slaine is good with machines and can pilot vehicles like the Sky Carrier.
He knows some about operating Kataphrakts, but he is not as skilled as the Martian knights.
He becomes more skilled as the story goes on, eventually piloting advanced machines like the Kataphrakt "Tharsis."
- Asseylum Vers Allusia: She saved his life, and he is extremely loyal to her. He cares about her deeply.
- Saazbaum: Becomes his adoptive father figure, but Slaine later kills him after a deep betrayal.
- Cruhteo: Slaine starts as Cruhteo’s servant and is looked down on by him.
- Lemrina Vers Envers: Slaine teaches her about Earth and cares for her while Asseylum is unconscious.
- Inaho Kaizuka: Slaine sees him as a rival and sometimes an enemy, but also respects him in many ways.
Arrival on Mars and Meeting Asseylum
Slaine comes to Mars with his father for Aldnoah research.
He is in a terrible accident but is saved by Asseylum Vers Allusia.
This rescue allows Slaine to use the Aldnoah technology in the future.
After his father's death, he lives in the palace and teaches Asseylum about Earth.
Rejection and Loyalty
Most Martians treat Slaine badly for being an Earthling.
Except for Asseylum, he finds no kindness.
Because of this, he feels strong loyalty to her, wishing for her safety.
He gives her his father’s pendant as a good luck charm when she goes to Earth as an ambassador.
Attacks and Betrayals
When Asseylum’s life is in danger due to an assassination attempt, Slaine learns of a bigger plot.
He meets knights like Trillram and finds out Saazbaum’s real intentions.
He tries to protect Asseylum, even shooting Trillram to save her.
Becoming a Fugitive
Slaine tries to tell Emperor Rayregalia that Asseylum is alive, but Saazbaum tricks everyone.
Now Slaine is called a traitor and must escape.
Imprisonment and Rescue
Slaine tries to connect with Inaho Kaizuka and other Earth survivors, but trust falls apart.
He is shot down, captured by Cruhteo, and tortured.
He manages to warn Cruhteo of the real enemy, just before Saazbaum storms the castle and kidnaps Slaine.
Suffering Under Saazbaum
Held on Saazbaum’s ship, Slaine hears the truth about the emperor's plot and Saazbaum’s hopes for Mars.
He becomes stuck between his loyalty to Asseylum and understanding Saazbaum’s ideals.
Major Choices and Tragedy
During a big battle, Slaine saves Saazbaum’s life, but this helps Saazbaum shoot Asseylum.
He then pulls Saazbaum and Asseylum out of the falling ship, trying desperately to save Asseylum.
Becoming a Knight and Pursuing Power
With Saazbaum’s help, Slaine becomes a knight and later his adoptive son.
He becomes more determined, helping Lemrina while still caring about Asseylum, who is unconscious.
Still, he can’t forgive Saazbaum for hurting Asseylum, so Slaine kills him using the power of Tharsis.
Rising as Count and Seeking a New Kingdom
He takes Saazbaum’s title and name and becomes "Slaine Saazbaum Troyard."
Now a count, Slaine starts to gather other Martian knights to build a new nation on Earth.
The Final Battles and Fall
True Asseylum wakes up, and Slaine briefly shows his kinder side.
But when she tries to arrest him, Slaine locks her and Lemrina away.
He orders attacks on Earth, but Asseylum takes control of the broadcast and forces Slaine to destroy his own base.
In the last fight with Inaho Kaizuka, Slaine loses and is taken prisoner.
He faces judgment as a war criminal and is said to have been executed, though in truth he remains in prison.
Aftermath
In prison, Slaine meets Inaho again and asks why he was spared.
He cries when he hears of Asseylum’s wish, showing deep regret and pain.
- "No, water and air are clear. But when there is a lot, things like light bending happen..."
- "That’s why... this time, I’ll protect the princess."
- "Are you my enemy?!"
At first, Slaine seems to have a tough life on Mars, but in truth, he holds a rare and somewhat honored position as a servant to the 37 families.
Many other Earthlings on Mars are treated much worse.
Slaine's decisions are often hard to understand.
His main goal was to save Asseylum, and he believed he needed Saazbaum’s trust to do that—even if that meant fighting Inaho Kaizuka.
Later, his goal is to create a new kingdom for Asseylum, where she could be safe and happy.
He tries to remove any threats to her from both Martians and Earthlings.
If Asseylum had woken up earlier, Slaine’s story might have turned out very differently.
