Tetsuya Murata is the son of the famous swordsmith Jintetsu Murata. Known for his loud voice and strong personality, he runs a sword-making workshop with his younger sister, Tetsuko, in Edo. Always trying to surpass his father, Tetsuya poured everything he had into crafting swords, even creating a living sword by combining the legendary Benizakura with machines and artificial intelligence. He supported the Kiheitai and truly believed his sword was unbeatable, but his journey ended in tragedy after realizing too late the value of family over his obsession with swords.

Tetsuya was very proud of his Benizakura, saying it could cut anything. When his sword broke, he fell into despair because he believed he had nothing left. Later, he was hurt while protecting Tetsuko from wild attacks by Nizou, who was possessed by Benizakura.
Realization and Final Words
As he lay dying, Tetsuya realized that his sister was the only thing he could not give up. He told her to "become a good swordsmith" before passing away. Even if he had survived, Tetsuya's actions in helping the Kiheitai and causing many deaths meant his life was as good as over.
