Ethnobalt is a hero from another world, known as the Vessel Hero of the Ship, and now also as the Book Hero and director of the Ancient Library. Although born a magical, walking rabbit called a Library Rabbit, Ethnobalt can change into a human form and has learned many kinds of magic. While his fighting power is low because of his race, he works hard with his friends, learning new skills and trying to be more helpful. Inspired by Rishia’s persistence, he starts a journey of training and self-improvement, eventually becoming a powerful and dependable hero who can fight on the front lines.
Ethnobalt is a Library Rabbit, a magical creature that stands and walks on two legs and looks like a rabbit. Usually, he is seen as a quiet young man in human form. Like Filo, he can transform between his original and human forms.
Ethnobalt seems quiet and calm. He is not human and sometimes feels different from others because of his race and low fighting skills. He does not give up desire to help his friends, and works hard to improve himself. He admires and is inspired by Rishia’s determination.
Ethnobalt is the Vessel Hero of the Ship from the world of Kizuna Kazayama and Glass. He grew up as the director of the Ancient Library. Because Library Rabbits have special traits and use potions shared among library heads, Ethnobalt was able to speak and take human form even without being raised as a hero. He has always had good magical ability but lacked fighting talent because of his race.

Becoming the Ship Hero and Director
Ethnobalt is one of the Vessel Heroes in Kizuna Kazayama’s and Glass’s world. He becomes the director of the Ancient Library and helps guard it. Because he is a Library Rabbit, he uses a special potion that helps him speak and turn into a human form.
Helping Naofumi and His Friends
When Naofumi Iwatani follows Kyo Ethnina to Ethnobalt’s world, Ethnobalt decides to help them. He uses Raphtalia’s hair to make a shikigami called Raf-chan for Naofumi. He can use teleportation by ship to help the party move around, even though he is not strong in fights.
Training and Self-Improvement
Ethnobalt wants to be more useful to his friends and is inspired by Rishia Ivyred, who also started weak but trained hard. Ethnobalt starts to train his body and learns martial arts. When Kyo Ethnina steals his ship, Ethnobalt must seek help from Naofumi’s group and learns the “Hengen Musou” fighting style from Elrasla Ragnarok, who tells him he has talent for it.
Becoming the Book Hero
After the battle with Kyo, Ethnobalt finds the Book Vassal Weapon, which is now free. The weapon chooses him, so he becomes the Book Hero. Because his race has good connections with books and reading skills, he uses new techniques learned from his training so that he can finally fight on the front lines.
Training Other Library Rabbits
Once he learns martial arts skills, Ethnobalt teaches the Hengen Musou style to all the other Library Rabbits. The library’s training yard turns into a real martial arts dojo.
Web Novel Difference
In the web novel, Ethnobalt survives but loses the ship to the enemy and is left badly injured or too weak to fight. The ship chooses Raf-chan as the next Vassal Hero.
- When in human form, Ethnobalt appears to be a quiet teenage boy.
- His effort in training inspires not just himself, but his entire race of Library Rabbits.
- The Ancient Library becomes famous for its martial arts training after Ethnobalt’s lessons.
