Adam White

Adam was a young man with blue eyes and slick orange hair. He usually wore a gray or blue business coat over a white dress shirt and a black tie.

In the revised timeline, Adam has become an elderly gentleman with neatly combed hair.

As a recruiter for the American government, Adam was friendly, composed, and good with words. He was also supportive and helpful towards people he respected, such as Jinwoo. This extended to the point that he wasn't the type of the person to hold grudges against anyone, as shown by how he wasn't upset with Jinwoo for choking him with Ruler's Authority during their flight to the United States.

Jeju Island Arc

After Jinwoo cleared the Jeju Island S-Rank Gate all on his own, Adam was tasked by his boss Michael Connor with recruiting him for America. Unfortunately, his first attempt to recruit Jinwoo did not work out as planned, as Norma Selner's powers did not work on him.

Japan Crisis Arc

After learning from his superiors in the Bureau that Sung Il-Hwan, Jinwoo's father, was the prime suspect in Christopher Reed's murder, Adam managed to get himself seated next to Jinwoo on his flight to America for the International Guild Conference and warned him of this, along with the fact that the Bureau was planning on issuing a red notice for Il-Hwan during the conference.

Although Jinwoo was enraged by this revelation and started choking Adam with Ruler's Authority, he eventually calmed down after Adam quickly explained himself and made it clear that he was only trying to help. As he had only ever seen the National Level Hunters demonstrate telekinetic abilities that powerful, Adam instantly realized that Jinwoo had already reached their level of strength.

International Guild Conference Arc

When they finally touched down in the States, Adam explained that Jinwoo that he was one of the Bureau's candidates to replace Christopher and attempted to recruit him again by offering him Kamish's rune stone. However, Jinwoo took no interest in the rune stone and simply asked if he could see the dragon's corpse in person. Although he was bewildered by Jinwoo's request, Adam nevertheless reported back to his boss David Brennon and was surprised when David gave Jinwoo the go-ahead. He was also present when Jinwoo revived Kamish as a shadow soldier and was stunned by the fact that Jinwoo could somehow communicate with magic beasts.

After Jinwoo's failed extraction with Kamish, Adam learned that Jinho had apparently gone missing after being picked up by a group of hunters from the Scavenger Guild and called Laura, the Scavenger Guild's secretary, only to find out that she knew nothing about it. Realizing that something was wrong, Adam turned around to inform Jinwoo and discovered that he had already left to find Jinho himself.

By the time Adam successfully tracked down Jinwoo, he found the latter in the middle of beating Thomas Andre to death with his bare hands. Horrified and knowing the United States could not afford to lose Thomas after what happened with Christopher, Adam begged Jinwoo to stop to no avail. Fortunately, by that point, Thomas had realized that he could not win and finally conceded, prompting Jinwoo to halt his attack and release him, much to Adam's relief.

Final Battle Arc

Shortly after gigantic gates starting appearing all over the world, Adam was dispatched by the Bureau to monitor the one that had spawned in Canada. Several days later, while on a phone call with Jinwoo, who wanted to know how things were going with the Canadian gate, Adam noticed a red-haired man step out of the gate and descend to the ground.

Realizing that the red-haired man was Antares, the strongest Monarch, Jinwoo hurriedly told Adam to run away as fast as he could. Unfortunately, Adam was too close to the gate to get to safety and watched as Antares slaughtered the S-Rank Hunters who'd been standing guard at the front of the gate with a single attack and started destroying everything in his path, with his massive army of dragons close behind. Realizing that Adam was trapped, Jinwoo attempted to save his life by teleporting him to China using Shadow Exchange. However, before he could do so, Antares used his breath attack on Adam at point-blank range, killing the latter instantly.

Ragnarok

After the Rulers used the Cup of Reincarnation one last time on Jinwoo's request, Adam was revived but lost all his memories of the original timeline.

Some decades later after the emergence of the gates and rise of hunters, Adam became the director of the Federal Bureau of Hunters.

Black Market Arc

During the incident where Thomas Andre seemingly killed fellow S-Rank Hunter Christopher Reed, Adam was regretfully forced to arrest Thomas for murder.

Though upon speaking with Thomas he was relieved that the S-Rank Hunter did not murder Christopher in cold blood, and learned that the other Hunter was a pawn in a conspiracy involving the Apostles of the Itarim. Under the guise of keeping Thomas in federal custody, Adam and his people worked with Thomas to investigate the cult who were supporting the Apostles, the Foreign Religion.

Whilst under the cover of having Thomas be put on trial, Adam led the Federal Bureau of Hunters in capturing as many priests of the Foreign Religion. They were brought to Thomas who after killing them, the director was in awe that Thomas was growing stronger, far beyond that of an S-Rank Hunter.

Later Adam and Thomas caught wind of an entity known as Vigilante who was hunting down various criminals all over the world. Thanks to Thomas, Adam was kept in the loop that it was all due to Suho, using his Shadows to eliminate all evil doers on Earth. And while the government official wanted to reach out to the new Hunter, especially with the loss of Christopher, he was prevented to by Thomas.

In a question of how long they would keep the charade going in hunting the Itarim to Thomas, he received his answer when Laura alerted the Hunter that Suho was going to North Korea. Adam was then given the task of leaking the information that Vigilante and Suho were one and the same being for his public debut as an S-Rank Hunter so he could gain support from the population of South Korea to be allowed to cross international borders.

North Pole Arc

After the release of the Tower of Trials and the launch of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok by Ahjin Soft, Adam took the opportunity to play the game, despite his busy schedule, and indeed felt a sense of familiarity to the game's story. In truth he slowly regained his memories of the former timeline, albeit to a limited extent.

When there was a strange weather anomaly detected by the Disaster Management System occurring in the North Pole, Adam accompanied President David Brennon to see the one person who could interpret what the anomaly meant. That person being the seer Norma Selner. Norma had it so happened was expecting them, and was aware of the concern in the North Pole. Though she told the President and Director that their answers laid with Sung Suho in South Korea. To that end Norma intended to journey to South Korea to meet the young Hunter.

Given that all air traffic was grounded due to moths that attacked the world in the Second Cataclysm, Norma had another means of travel. Thomas Andre her long time friend was in her home, and ordered one of Suho's to summon a Gate to the Sung residence. Norma then called for Adam to accompany her and Thomas through the Gate.

Upon realizing he was among the largest cluster of National Level Hunters and other powerhouses of humanity, Adam felt out of place. Though he was assured by Thomas that he had every right to be present given his association with Jinwoo.

The Director would witness Suho craft Holy Water of Life, gifting one for Sung Il-Hwan and Norma. After Il-Hwan drank the water allowing his body to fully synchronize with the Starpieces embedded in his body, a Godless Apostle, Adam was concerned by this new ascension of power. Later he witnessed Norma be rejuvenated by the water and offer Suho a vision of what she had sensed that was watching their universe. After Norma collapsed and Suho revealed that an Itarim was coming to Earth, Adam realizing the direness of the situation showed everyone the Disaster Management System which detected an anomaly in the North Pole of what could only be a Gate that was being intentionally hidden.

Adam suspected that this was the work of Yuri Orloff, Russia’s dictator. The Director admitted that the US was powerless to do anything aside from place pressure on Russia. When Suho suggested he could sneak into the country using his Shadows, Adam stated that Yuri would detect him as soon as he cross his mana barriers shielding the various cities in Russia. Given that they were out of options, Suho suggested Thomas go incognito and play as a distraction, while he infiltrated the facility at the North Pole.
