In addition to her own accomplishments, all three of her disciples later rose to become representatives of major nations, making Melida someone whom all countries around Earlshide regard with exceptional respect.

Melida met Merlin Wolford as a fellow student at the Advanced Magic Academy.
Because he stood far above everyone else in ability and often behaved carelessly, she initially could not stand him.
Their relationship changed when she saw his kindness, especially his love for his mother.
That led to romance, and later to marriage.
After the death of Slain, the emotional blow led them to dissolve their marriage.
Even so, their relationship did not truly turn hostile.
They continued living close enough to visit each other on foot.
They also raised Shin Wolford together, and later even lived together again after moving to the royal capital.
Shin Wolford
Shin Wolford is Melida’s adoptive grandson.
She helped raise him after Merlin brought him home.
Because Shin constantly does outrageous and dangerous things, she keeps a very close eye on him.
Still, like Merlin, she treasures him deeply even though they are not related by blood.
Melida is one of the few people whose anger can genuinely terrify her family and disciples.
No matter how important someone is, they cannot ignore her words lightly.
Her record of contributions to magical tool development made her a legend.
Combined with the political stature of her disciples, this has caused her to be viewed with even more awe than Merlin Wolford in the nations surrounding Earlshide.
