Klara is a student from Pravda High School and first appears in the Girls und Panzer movie. She is a short-term exchange student from Russia and serves as the commander of the T-34/85 tank. Klara mostly speaks Russian with Nonna, causing Katyusha to scold them and ask for Japanese. However, Klara is actually very good at Japanese. She admires Katyusha as much as Nonna does and enjoys playing the balalaika. Nina and Arina think Klara is similar to Nonna and advise not to go against her. Klara's background is mysterious, and while some stories were told about her in a Drama CD, it's unclear if those are true. She is known for her loyalty to Katyusha and her devotion is as deep as Nonna’s. Klara also helps during matches by supporting her team and protecting Katyusha.
Klara is a female student at Pravda High School. She has a foreign look, different from the other characters. She is shown playing the balalaika and usually wears her school uniform and tank gear.
Klara is officially a short-term exchange student from Russia. Not much is known about her past. There is a story that she is from Novosibirsk and her father is a colonel, but this might not be true. She owns a childhood photo of Katyusha, which she says her father got from the intelligence department. Her true background is kept secret.
Klara is the commander and gunner for the T-34/85 tank. She is skilled in tank battles, has great awareness during matches, and can play the balalaika very well.
Exhibition Match
Klara joins the exhibition match with the mixed team of Ooarai Girls Academy and Chihatan Academy. She only speaks Russian with Nonna during the match. Klara keeps an eye on Miho Nishizumi’s movements and guards the flag tank. She chases the Anglerfish Team after spotting them but fails to catch them and her tank ends up stuck in front of an inn. Rosehip’s Crusader tank crashes into her T-34, causing a huge explosion and destroying the inn. Her tank is buried under rubble and is out of the match.
University Selection Team Battle
Klara fights in the battle against the University Selection Team in her T-34/85. She is part of the Sunflower Platoon and moves to capture a defensive spot on "Hill 203". Her team comes under fire from the Karl self-propelled gun and retreats to join the Dandelion Platoon. When the last tank (Katyusha’s) is attacked, Klara volunteers to cover the retreat. Klara reveals she can speak Japanese at this point. She tries to hold off the enemy but is destroyed by the Karl gun’s shells. However, this sacrifice lets Nonna and other teammates help Katyusha escape. In the end, she is seen playing the balalaika next to sleeping Katyusha.
Episode One of the Finale
Klara worries about Katyusha not knowing Russian even though she is about to study in Russia. Katyusha hints Klara will go home soon, but Klara says she would like to stay longer since she feels comfortable.
Other Matches
During the match between Ooarai Girls Academy and BC Freedom Academy, Klara watches while giving Katyusha a piggyback ride. In the second round against Kuromorimine Girls Academy, Klara serves as the flag tank and defends her position but gets stuck and is defeated by Erika Itsumi’s team.
Pravda War Chronicles
In a prequel story, Klara thinks of Pravda High School and tankery as "imitation" at first. Seeing Nonna on TV winning a match, Klara flies to Pravda in a MiG-31 airplane, enters at low altitude, ignores instructions, and meets Nonna. She challenges Nonna to a fight to check if Nonna is the real deal. During the fight, she admits she feels empty inside and realizes Nonna found meaning after meeting Katyusha. When Katyusha interrupts, Klara feels happy, saying her life was to meet Katyusha, and thanks her in a strange way, putting Katyusha's foot on her head. Nonna soon does the same and they become friends, leaving Katyusha confused. After returning home, Klara keeps in touch with Nonna.
Klara is the only character who gets caught in big explosions twice in the series but always appears unharmed afterward. This shows how safe tankery is in the world of the show. Klara is voiced by Jenya, who is also Russian, and even supervised the Russian lines in the movie. The character was created based on Jenya herself.
Some of Klara’s claimed background, such as being from Novosibirsk or having a colonel as her father, are based on Jenya’s real life and may not actually apply to Klara in the story. Her reasons for having photos of baby Katyusha are a mystery, and her father's job is still unknown.
