He is Yōto Yokodera’s childhood friend and classmate, bound by a longstanding and inseparable relationship since elementary school. Ponta speaks and behaves in a manner reminiscent of traditional Edo period rakugo storytellers. In the past, he struggled with lustful desires related to women, but after transferring those desires to the Stony Cat, he became interested in humanitarian causes. Like Yōto, his academic performance is not very good. Caring for the isolated Yōto in the track and field club, he shows his thoughtfulness by inviting Yōto to join his own club. Although he also interacts with Mai Maimaki, most of their exchanges involve Ponta’s sexual harassment, so they cannot be considered close.
He was formerly a member of the Edo History Research Club, but after leaving, he founded the "Mafia Club," short for “Better than genuine misfortune is fake love.” In this club, they cultivate “herbs that make people happy just by smelling them,” participate in school events, and channel diverted funds to support humanitarian activities. In Volume 7, he uses the winter vacation to join volunteer efforts abroad.
Since childhood, he has kept a female rabbit, whom he adores and affectionately calls “Yajisan.”
