Botan and her friends face a deadly challenge when they meet the famous "giant man-eating cow demon," a massive beast with a terrifying face and huge fangs. Despite being hard to hurt, they defeat it together by using teamwork and clever ideas. This monster is both their most dangerous enemy so far and a sign of the wild dangers they will keep meeting. The key moment is when the group, not yet called The Elusive Samurai, risks their lives in battle and finds a way to win as a team.
The giant cow demon has a huge, unusual body, four enormous fangs, and a face marked by six large bumps. Its appearance is both scary and unforgettable, making it the perfect creature for wild rumors.
The Famous Cow Demon
There were rumors from a neighboring land about a monster living in the mountains, known for eating people. When Botan and her group went hunting, they suddenly found themselves face-to-face with this very creature, even before they became known as The Elusive Samurai.
This monster is thought to be a survivor from ancient times—an old beast living alone, with no family to keep it company.
A Sudden Encounter
Botan, along with Tokiyuki Hojo, Kojirō, and Ayako, goes on a hunting trip. They are suddenly attacked by the huge cow demon, which threatens their lives.
Fighting With Strategy
Even though simple attacks don’t work, Shizuku comes up with a plan. The team uses their special skills together and leads the monster to a dangerous area. They make the cow demon fall onto a blade made from a piece of sharp obsidian, which finally kills it.
The Real Story of the Monster
Shizuku believes the cow demon became so scary and violent because it was lonely. If it had a family, it might have lived peacefully and never attacked humans.
The Aftermath
The crew plans to use the monster’s body for food. But, Suwa Yorishige, who had already seen this future before it happened, eats every last piece before anyone else can.
- The monster's defeat showed how Botan and the others work best when combining their thinking and skills.
- The story explains that even the wildest monsters might not be evil—they could just be lonely.
