Sarutobi Sasuke

Sasuke is named by Yukimura Sanada after the legendary ninja Sarutobi Sasuke, once counted among the Sanada Ten Braves in folklore.

Within the story she is treated as one of Yukimura’s followers and becomes a contracted sword maiden (Master Samurai) through a kiss with Muneakira Yagyu.

Sasuke begins as a normal monkey kept by Yukimura Sanada.

Yukimura displays a digital mandala on a computer-like screen, and this mandala is somehow absorbed into Sasuke’s body, granting her the ability to transform into a human form.

Despite originally being male as an animal, her transformed form and role in the series are presented as female.

Jubei Yagyu affectionately calls Sasuke by the nickname “Sacchin.”

In her monkey form, Sasuke looks like a typical small monkey without any visible mark of a Master Samurai.

When she transforms into her humanized form, her height is about 100 cm, giving her a small, childlike stature.

In this humanized state, her ears and tail remain those of a monkey, emphasizing her animal origin.

She does not normally wear clothes when transformed, so she appears completely nude unless specifically dressed by others.

The mark that signifies her status as a sword maiden (Master Samurai) appears on her buttocks, but only when she is in human form.

Her overall design emphasizes agility and playfulness rather than traditional armor or weaponry.

Sasuke is mischievous, energetic, and highly attached to Yukimura Sanada.

She often behaves more like a clever pet or prankster than a disciplined warrior.

Jubei Yagyu is friendly toward Sasuke and gives her the cute nickname “Sacchin,” showing a close, casual bond.

In contrast, Sasuke and Kanetsugu Naoe have an antagonistic “cats and dogs” relationship, frequently clashing and bickering.

Sasuke also interacts closely with Muneakira Yagyu as her master after contracting with him as a sword maiden.

Her loyalties essentially revolve around Yukimura’s circle and the Yagyu dojo.

Sasuke does not use conventional weapons like swords or spears.

Instead, she fights using her own claws, relying on quick movements and close-range attacks.

When the power of her Master Samurai state intensifies, her claws become longer, sharper, and more durable.

This enhanced form greatly increases her offensive capability, turning her into a surprisingly dangerous close-combat fighter despite her small size.

In the original story, Sasuke becomes a sword maiden when she crashes into Muneakira Yagyu’s face after flying toward him.

This accidental impact serves as the trigger to form their contract, unlocking her Master Samurai powers.

Initially, Sasuke has no visible Master Samurai mark in her monkey form.

Only after transforming into her humanized state does the mark clearly appear on her buttocks, confirming her status.

Within the timeline, she can be considered effectively the fourth sword maiden to appear, after Jubei Yagyu, Yukimura Sanada, and Sen Tokugawa.

However, her active time in this powered state is extremely limited, lasting only about three minutes.

In the anime version of Hyakka Ryōran Samurai Girls, Sasuke sneaks into the Yagyu dojo while searching for Yukimura Sanada, who has been separated from her.

During this infiltration, she steals Yukimura’s underwear and similar personal items, causing misunderstandings that lead people to suspect Muneakira Yagyu of being the culprit.

Sasuke hears about the financial difficulties facing the Yagyu dojo and, feeling somewhat responsible or burdensome, decides she should leave.

Kanetsugu Naoe misinterprets this as an attempt to “flee after winning,” becomes angry, and physically throws Sasuke back into the grounds of the dojo.

As Muneakira tries to catch her mid-air, their lips meet in an accidental kiss.

This kiss becomes the formal contract that turns Sasuke into a Master Samurai in the anime continuity.

Although she joins the group of sword maidens, her transformed state is restricted to roughly three minutes, limiting her battlefield presence.

Even so, she is clearly positioned as the fourth active sword maiden after Jubei, Yukimura, and Sen.

Later in the story, Sasuke takes on work as a maid in a café or maid-style establishment called True Shadow.

Before she arrives, the shop has almost no customers and is struggling.

Thanks to her unique appearance, lively personality, and novelty as a monkey-girl maid, Sasuke’s presence draws in many patrons.

Her popularity revitalizes True Shadow, turning it into a thriving and busy business.
