Lawrence

A pastor who runs a countryside church. He graduated from seminary and became a pastor. He is serious and polite but also somewhat naive, being extremely oblivious to affection directed towards him. It took him a very long time to realize he was in love with Cecilia. Normally, he refers to himself as "watashi," but switches to "ore" when around Abel. Cecilia calls him "Lauren," but for some reason, Lawrence stubbornly refuses to call her by name and continues to call her "Saint" instead, even going so far as to write it down when informing others. However, in moments of urgency, he occasionally calls her by name.

He respects and cherishes Cecilia, the saint who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, but is oblivious to her feelings. The townspeople look on their relationship with a smile. He loves animals, but due to a particular trait, they do not approach him, resulting in him spending his days looking at cat photo books. His hobbies include taking care of Cecilia, his work, and cooking. He has a unique sense for sculpting. Traumatized by an incident during his childhood when he overate delicious food on an island trip and got stomach aches, he cannot eat shellfish. He has exceptional observational skills, able to identify an item's owner at a glance, but this does not lead him to realize affectionate feelings.

His "particular trait" is that he is easily liked by supernatural beings such as angels and spirits. Animals avoid him because they are frightened by the spirits that gather around him. If too many gather or if malevolent beings like demons are attracted, Lawrence's health would deteriorate. Lawrence himself cannot see angels, and those around him keep this hidden from him, so he does not understand what is happening.

He met Cecilia when she was pleading that "the town will flood if the bridge isn't demolished" and helped her when she was about to collapse. Initially, Lawrence doubted Cecilia's story like the other residents, but after looking at the town's map and being convinced that heavy rain would come, he joined her in persuading others and got the permission to demolish the bridge.
