Keiji Maeda

Keiji Maeda originates from the Buō Academy Cram School, Yonezawa Branch, a satellite campus of the main academy.

She travels the world as a wanderer, rarely staying in one place and often appearing suddenly when least expected.

She is famous as an expert in manipulating “energy,” treating it like a refined martial and spiritual art.

Her personality is bold and flashy, and she proudly embraces her reputation as an eccentric who follows her own whims.

Keiji is strongly attracted to women and openly dislikes men, which shapes most of her social interactions.

Despite this, she can be unexpectedly friendly if someone catches her interest, and she often acts on impulse rather than logic.

She has an intense wanderlust and prefers a drifting lifestyle over settling down at any academy or residence.

Keiji is also a master of disguise, able to impersonate others so convincingly that she can fool close friends and allies.

Her behavior is theatrical and playful, with a fondness for teasing people around her.

Even so, she is reliable when it truly matters and is willing to help others with serious training or missions.

Keiji is described as a master of “energy,” implying advanced combat techniques and spiritual or internal power.

She can use this expertise to guide others through harsh training, pushing them to unlock their own potential.

Her talent for disguise is exceptional, allowing her to take on the appearance and mannerisms of other characters.

She rides a large motorcycle named “Matsukaze,” which suits her wild, free-spirited nature.

Kanetsugu Naoe

Keiji and Kanetsugu Naoe grew up together and share a deep, long-standing connection.

Because of this childhood bond, Keiji affectionately calls Kanetsugu by the nickname “Tatari-chan,” showing both familiarity and playfulness.

At one point, Keiji disguises herself as Kanetsugu.

In this form, she secretly helps with energy training to support the revival of Jubei Yagyu, then sets off on another journey.

Jubei Yagyu

From Jubei Yagyu’s perspective, Keiji’s name is a bit of a mouthful, so Jubei casually calls her “Maedake-san.”

The nickname reflects Jubei’s innocent and informal way of relating to people, including someone as larger-than-life as Keiji.

Keiji’s involvement in Jubei’s revival is indirect but crucial.

By providing energy training while disguised as Kanetsugu, she plays a behind-the-scenes role in Jubei’s return.

Muneakira Yagyu and Samurai Girls

In the OVA “Samurai After,” Keiji appears together with Kagekatsu Uesugi.

Even though she is known for hating men, she clings to Muneakira Yagyu and shows a surprising amount of interest in him.

Her affectionate and physical behavior toward Muneakira stands out precisely because it contradicts her usual dislike of men.

This contrast makes her actions more striking and hints that she finds Muneakira uniquely intriguing.

Keiji is also the mastermind behind the “Samurai General Election.”

She comes up with the idea and sets it in motion, showing her love of spectacle, competition, and stirring things up among the samurai girls.
