Character Setting

Edit

Daida is the second prince of Bosse Kingdom, a young man who strives for excellence amid the towering legacy of his family and a complicated mixture of envy and admiration for his older half-brother, Bojji.

Daida is a young man of both giant and human descent.

He closely resembles his father, King Bosse, but lacks the massive physique of a pure giant.

He is both academically gifted and skilled in combat, standing in stark contrast to Bojji.

Daida was raised under strict expectations, developing a high level of pride and often feeling conflicted about Bojji, experiencing both superiority and envy.

Although initially immature, he refuses to take the easy path and possesses an inner strength befitting a king.

Daida is the younger son of King Bosse and Queen Hiling, making him Bojji’s younger half-brother.

He was raised with tough discipline to prepare him for rulership, which shaped both his pride and his insecurities.

Daida is well-rounded, excelling in both academic studies and martial training.

However, he is haunted by the shadow of his father’s power, often feeling inadequate when compared to King Bosse.

Bojji: His older half-brother, whom Daida views with a complicated mix of pride, jealousy, and admiration.

Hiling: His mother, whose scheming plays a central role in Daida’s succession to the throne.

Bosse: His father, whose legacy and eventual possession of Daida leave deep impacts on his identity.

Miranjo: A figure who becomes central to Daida's growth, eventually proposing to her in an act of empathy and understanding.

Daida’s name is derived from “Daidarabotchi,” a mythical giant being.

After ascending the throne again, he hung his father’s enormous axe above the royal seat to remind himself to remain vigilant at all times.

“I want to become a king worthy of respect. I won’t run from hardship, not anymore.”

“I finally understand Bojji’s strength.”

Rise to the Throne

Although King Bosse chose Bojji as his successor on his deathbed, Daida ultimately became king thanks to Hiling’s maneuvers.

He felt validated, yet insecure, especially when he banished those who did not support him and was subsequently warned about his rapidly declining Rank of Kings position.

Possession by Bosse

In a moment of desperation, Daida’s vulnerabilities are exploited by a mysterious mirror, leading to him being overtaken as a vessel for the revived King Bosse.

Trapped in darkness, Daida was initially frightened and helpless, reduced to tears and unable to escape.

Journey of Self-Discovery

During his spiritual imprisonment, Daida encountered the souls of Bosse and Miranjo.

Through sharing in their painful memories, he unearthed the truth behind Bojji’s “weakness” and came to terms with his own flaws and responsibilities.

Resolution and Growth

Freed from Bosse’s control in the climactic moments of the first narrative arc, Daida took significant steps toward maturity.

He empathized with Miranjo’s suffering, accepting her wholeheartedly and proposing marriage.

Recognizing Bojji’s worth, he acknowledged him as king, then ruled the kingdom in Bojji’s absence, finally embracing his role and responsibilities.

With a symbolic gesture, Daida kept Bosse’s axe suspended above the throne—never allowing himself to become complacent.

Despite his earlier flaws and youthful arrogance, Daida evolves into a much more compassionate and capable leader through his trials.

His journey is one marked by jealousy and pain, but also understanding, redemption, and the aspiration to be a true king in the eyes of his people.
