Yuri Kawazu

Yuri Kawazu is known for her tall and attractive figure. She stands out as both a leader and an older sister in appearance.

Yuri is very confident and often pushes others forward with her strong attitude.

Her famous catchphrase is “More and more! Boom!”

However, she also worries about not having anything she is particularly good at, which she shares only with close friends.

Sometimes, she can be a little reckless and not pay attention to the small details.

Yuri Kawazu was the leader among the girls.

She traveled around the ruined world, gathering survivors after the Wild Hunt wiped out most of humanity.

While helping to protect a certain city from Wild Hunt attacks, she met Renge Kasumi.

When Yuri found out that Renge had the powerful sword Andvari, which could defeat monsters in one blow, she decided to try defeating the giant creature Goliath.

Yuri’s weapon was Andvari, a greatsword called “Tyrfing.”

This sword is strong enough to cut Wild Hunt monsters in half.

Yuri usually gave the final blow in battle.

After Yuri died, her Andvari fused with the one held by Renge, passing on the sword’s name.

The original Tyrfing from Norse mythology is known as a magic sword that grants three wishes but brings death to its wielder, hinting at Yuri’s fate in the story.

Yuri was close to her teammates and acted as both leader and supporter.

She shared a special connection with Renge Kasumi and inspired others with her confidence.

She also had a childhood friend named Nerine, who appeared later in the story.

Journey as a Leader

Yuri Kawazu leads a group of girls through a world destroyed by the Wild Hunt.

She helps survivors and bravely fights monsters to protect others.

Her strong spirit encourages her friends, but she also secretly feels she isn’t as skilled as the others.

The Battle with Goliath

Yuri meets Renge Kasumi and learns about the special sword Andvari.

Together, they decide to face the gigantic Wild Hunt, Goliath.

During a fierce fight in Episode 2, Yuri is struck in the chest by a laser fired by Goliath right before it’s destroyed.

She dies from her wound, and in Episode 3, her friends bury her in a grave to honor her.

Legacy of Andvari

After Yuri’s death, her sword Andvari is fused with Renge’s Andvari, letting her spirit and strength live on through her friend.

The Truth of Copies

In Episode 9, Renge and her team, Team MMY, see Yuri again, though she was supposed to be dead.

They find an underground facility with copies of Yuri and the other Team MMY members, as well as Yuri’s childhood friend Nerine.

Hinageshi Usuzumi uses her sword Andvari-Gleipnir to hack the AI computers and uncover the secrets of their world.

It is revealed that the Wild Hunt’s goal was to erase all intelligent life.

Girls like Yuri, who carried Andvari, were actually copies of real humans, made as helpers and given weapons.

When the plan was stopped, these copies kept living as humans, not knowing their true nature.

That’s why there were “original” humans like Yuri and copies—Team MMY’s Yuri was a copy, and the one found underground was the original.

Only Renge was truly an original human.

The Three Types of Yuri

• Copy: The Yuri who first appears and dies in Episode 2, marked by her yellow ribbon. The memories Renge sees as flashbacks are from Nerine’s point of view and are about this copy.
• Original: Appears at the end of Episode 9 with a green ribbon; she is the real Yuri living underground.
• AI: When Hinageshi hacks the computer, the system uses Yuri’s appearance to share information. This “AI Yuri” also has a yellow ribbon and is erased after giving out the info.

Some say Yuri is seen as looking “too light-hearted” when she tells the truth to the copied girls.

Still, she is very careful about how her friends would feel after learning they are copies and protects them when danger arrives.

Yuri continues to appear in memories and daydreams after her death, helping and encouraging her friends from afar.
