On the surface, she behaves calmly and mechanically, maintaining the act of being a robot at all times in front of Arthur.

As the story progresses, however, she gradually develops special romantic feelings for him, which she struggles to express because of her fabricated identity.

According to the creator Akimoto, the character was first conceived simply as a maid.

The idea then evolved into a “strong maid who can also fight,” leading to Marie’s background as a former martial artist.
