Kanshichirou is the grandson of Kahei Hashida, a very wealthy man who leads the Hashida family.
His mother is a house servant named Ofusa, and his father is Kahei’s son, Kantaro.
Before he was born, Kanshichirou’s grandfather didn’t want him and wanted Ofusa to end her pregnancy.
After Kantaro died (he was not very healthy), Kahei changed his mind and tried hard to get Kanshichirou back as his family’s heir.
To keep him safe, his mother Ofusa brought him to the Yorozuya for hiding.
Kanshichirou has a close bond with Gintoki Sakata, who takes care of him and shows him kindness.
The Yorozuya members quickly become attached to him, each giving him funny nicknames like “Gingaku,” “Banji,” and “Kinji.”
After things calm down, Kanshichirou is happy to be reunited with his mom, Ofusa, and seems to accept Kahei Hashida as his grandfather.
Arrival at Yorozuya
