Calm Craftman

Calm Craftman is a bright 15-year-old boy in ALDNOAH.ZERO. While he often acts goofy and enjoys making others smile, he didn't grow up in New Ashihara. Calm lost his homeland during the Heaven's Fall and had to move to Japan as a refugee. This past gave him a strong dislike for Martians. After his close friend Okisuke Mikuni died, and after New Ashihara was attacked by meteors, Calm's hatred grew even more. However, meeting Asseylum Vers Allusia changed Calm, and he slowly started seeing things differently. Although he is not great at school, he is physically strong and always helps out in tough times. Calm is more emotional than some of the other characters but has a kind side, especially around pretty girls like Asseylum. He eventually finds his place as a mechanic, supporting his friends from behind the scenes.

Appearance

Calm Craftman is a typical 15-year-old boy.

He looks cheerful and full of energy.

He often wears his school uniform and later, a mechanic’s outfit when serving on the battleship.

Personality

Calm is a talkative and cheerful person.

He likes to joke around and keep the mood light.

He is not good at studying and tends to skip classes.

But Calm is very strong, physically.

He often helps with hard work during emergencies.

He has a habit of falling asleep in any place because of his past life as a refugee.

Calm calls his friend Okisuke Mikuni a "fanboy," but really, Calm is also weak when he sees beautiful girls.

He holds a strong grudge against the Martians.

But after meeting Asseylum Vers Allusia (and finding her pretty), Calm has trouble hating her even though she is from the Vers Empire.

This shows his honest and gentle side.

Background

Calm Craftman is not from New Ashihara.

He lost his homeland when Heaven’s Fall happened and then moved to Japan.

His past as a refugee made him strong and able to stand tough situations.

Abilities

At first, Calm joins battle in a KG-6 Sleipnir, supporting Inaho Kaizuka’s plan.

However, when he joins the military, he finds out he is not a very good pilot.

He fails at training with the Kataphrakts.

Calm jokes that he would have been much better if piloting them was like playing a game!

Because of this, he becomes a mechanic instead of a pilot.

Calm works hard, helps his friends, and grows into a valuable mechanic on the front lines.

Relationships

• Inaho Kaizuka: Calm is Inaho’s classmate and supports his strategies in battle.
• Okisuke Mikuni: Calm’s best friend, though he often calls him a fanboy. Okisuke’s death makes Calm’s anger at Martians even stronger.
• Asseylum Vers Allusia: Calm meets her and can’t hate her, even knowing she is from the Vers Empire. He is touched by her kindness and beauty.
• Inko Amifumi: Works with Calm and supports Inaho together in battle and later aboard the ship.

Plot

From Refugee to Soldier

Calm did not come from New Ashihara.

He lost his home during Heaven’s Fall and escaped to Japan.

Life as a refugee made him tough, able to sleep anywhere and work hard.

The Growing Hatred

Calm already disliked Martians because he lost his homeland.

When Okisuke Mikuni, his best friend, died and Martians attacked New Ashihara with meteors, Calm’s anger and hatred grew even stronger.

Changing Heart After Meeting Asseylum

Calm’s feelings start to change after meeting Asseylum Vers Allusia.

Even though she is from the Vers Empire, he cannot bring himself to hate her.

Her kindness and beauty make Calm think differently about the enemy.

On the Front Lines

In battle against Nilokeras, Calm pilots the KG-6 Sleipnir and follows Inaho’s orders to help his friends.

He also helps fight during the attack by Argyle at the port.

Becoming a Mechanic

When Calm joins the military, he struggles with pilot training.

Because he is not good with Kataphrakt controls, he becomes a mechanic instead.

Calm joins the crew of the battleship Deucalion and becomes an important support for his friends.

Growth and Support

Though Calm is not on the front lines as a pilot, he grows as a person and as a mechanic.

His work makes a big difference, and he supports his friends every step of the way.
