At the start, after the Dorssian Military attacks, Kyuuma helps Haruto Tokishima along with Saki Rukino and Aina Sakurai.
He is one of the few people who learns about Haruto’s special abilities.
But then, Aina is killed in battle. Kyuuma is heartbroken and feels powerless.
After her death, he demands to become a Valvrave pilot. He wants to protect everyone himself.
Fighting as Valvrave V’s Pilot
During an enemy attack and school blackout, Kyuuma and Raizou Yamada argue about piloting.
In the chaos, Kyuuma joins Raizou and becomes a Magius (Valvrave pilot).
His first fight is intense—he and Raizou defeat many enemy machines and even destroy a giant battleship.
He thinks about Aina and calls her his first love, though he says he was rejected.
Supporting Friends and Facing the Truth
Kyuuma takes part in mission after mission, acting as a leader to the younger pilots.
Together with Marie Nobi and Raizou, he fights Dorssian forces and helps save his friends.
He is shocked to learn the dark truth behind the Valvrave project from Haruto’s father, Tokishima Souichi, and feels angry about how carelessly it’s explained.
When the world discovers who the pilots are, Kyuuma’s group—is now known as Kamitsuki—becomes feared and hated.
Heroic Sacrifice
Even when his classmates and the world reject him, Kyuuma stays brave and determined.
He acts as a shield, risking everything to save Haruto and L-ELF, even when Shouko and others betray them out of fear.
Kyuuma pilots his badly damaged Valvrave V in a final attack, helping his friends to escape.
He is killed in action and, in the future, is remembered as one of the founding heroes of the Third Galactic Empire, known as the “First Knight.”
