Shiki is a sharp-looking, rough-tongued boy who belongs to the Inugami Detective Agency.

Despite his aggressive attitude, he is cautious and levelheaded during work.

He was born to a human father and a mother who is a spider monster known as an Arachne.

Because of this heritage, he inherited spider-like abilities and can freely manipulate highly adhesive threads from his fingers.

Shiki’s main power is the use of spider silk.

He can produce and control threads with different properties, using them flexibly in combat, investigation, and exploration.

His threads are especially effective for capturing and restraining targets.

This makes him a reliable support fighter, even if his usual attitude makes him seem more like trouble than backup.

Shiki is usually crude, confrontational, and quick to snap at others.

However, beneath that prickly surface, he is caring, responsible, and surprisingly attentive.

He often ends up looking after Kabane Kusaka, who knows little about the world, and Akira, who is emotionally fragile.

Because of this, Shiki frequently becomes the long-suffering straight man of the group.

Shiki lost his father in an accident before he was born.

He lived with his mother when he was very young, but they were separated around the time he began forming memories.

Because his recollections were vague, he grew up distrusting his mother.

Afterward, he was raised by his paternal uncle, Akio Tademaru.

A childhood trauma also left him terrified of corpses, to the point that he would freeze when seeing one.

He later overcomes this fear.

At first, Shiki is openly hostile toward Kabane Kusaka.

Because Kabane’s circumstances resemble his own, Shiki directs a kind of self-loathing at him.

However, as they live and work together at the Inugami Detective Agency, Shiki gradually opens up.

Their relationship shifts from tense rivalry to a more trusting bond.

Shiki’s mother is an Arachne, while his father was human.

He initially believed his mother had abandoned him, but later learns the truth behind their separation.

After discovering that truth, he realizes he had been doubting his mother as a way to avoid facing a cruel reality.

He regrets those feelings and comes to reassess his view of her.

Later, Shiki also learns that he has a younger half-sister he never knew about.
