Kyouko Yuuki

Asuna's mother. A professor in the economics department of a certain university. Her family originally ran a rice farm in the mountainous region of Miyagi Prefecture, but her parents (Asuna's grandparents) have already passed away, and the house and terraced fields have been sold. Every time she visits the main Yuuki family in Kyoto, she is subjected to snide remarks about her family background, which has become a source of insecurity for her.

She has a strict personality and is displeased with her daughter attending a returnee school after falling off the elite track due to the SAO incident, as well as with her relationship with Kazuto, who comes from an ordinary family. She wishes for Asuna to transfer to a prestigious school, cut ties with Kazuto, and return to the elite path. She also harbored a negative impression of VR technology due to the SAO incident. However, after being advised by Yuuki, Asuna took her mother into ALO, where they talked and understood each other's feelings, leading to reconciliation. The next morning, she allowed Asuna to continue attending the returnee school.
