Takumi is Ikoma's best friend and a 17-year-old steam smith. His birthday is August 8, and due to his distinctive physique, Mumei calls him "chubby." Despite being troubled by Ikoma's reckless nature, Takumi secretly helped him advance his research on the Kabane.
When Ikoma transformed into a Kabaneri, Takumi was both shocked and confused, but remained determined to support him as always. During the rebellion at Kongokaku, Takumi and Ikoma headed together to the front carriage, only to fall into Biba Amatori's trap. In the resulting gunfire, Takumi suffered a fatal wound while protecting Ikoma. After Ikoma fell off the train, Takumi noticed Hatsune's green stone had dropped inside the carriage, picked it up, and died shortly after.
Takumi also appears in a flashback scene in the movie “The Battle of Unato,” where he tells Ikoma, “Perhaps fearing and hating people is the essence of the Kabane.”
Overview
Takumi was a steam smith at Aganeki Station and Ikoma’s best friend. He was somewhat plump, which led Mumei to call him “chubby.” He became Ikoma’s collaborator and best supporter in researching the Kabane and developing anti-Kabane weapons. Though exasperated by Ikoma’s recklessness, Takumi admired him, and even after Ikoma became a Kabaneri and was shunned and feared by others, Takumi continued to protect him.
