Hokuto is Harutora Tsuchimikado's close friend whom he met during middle school. She has semi-long hair and, despite her cute appearance, possesses a tomboyish and meddlesome personality. Hokuto calls Harutora Tsuchimikado "Baka-tora" (meaning "stupid tiger") and is herself known as a "tomboy." Notably, she is very enthusiastic in encouraging Harutora Tsuchimikado to become an Onmyoji, which reveals her strong desire on this matter.
However, the story takes a tragic turn. When she gets injured while protecting Harutora Tsuchimikado from Suzuka Dairenji's attack, she ultimately disappears. At that moment, it is revealed that Hokuto is actually a shikigami. In reality, Hokuto was a remotely controlled, simple shikigami created by Natsume Tsuchimikado for training in behaving as a male in accordance with family traditions, and her consciousness was, in fact, Natsume Tsuchimikado herself.
In the anime adaptation, it is suggested that Hokuto's appearance was modeled after an idol whom Harutora Tsuchimikado had once remarked was "cute," which excites fans of the series. Her existence not only adds depth to the narrative but also serves as an important element in highlighting the bonds between characters. Hokuto is not just a side character, but someone central to the core of the story.
